Wayne Goertel has been keeping track. Wayne who? He is a member of the Hookset School Board, and you should thank him. He’s got some data he’s been crunching on COVID19 in New Hampshire (for months) that is worth your attention. And not just because it will annoy Fearmongering leftists.

He compared COVID19 mortality to recent motor vehicle fatality rates in the Granite State, and guess what? You are far more likely to die driving to your social distancing class in a medical mask than from SARS CoV2 without any of that.

Nursing homes are associated with nearly half of deaths related to COVID-19 nationally, but New Hampshire’s distribution is over 80%. Conversely, the state has a small portion of COVID-19 deaths beyond nursing homes. I compared these against automobile deaths by age group.  Because the number of people in each age group varies, we calculate “deaths per 100,000 people” so we can compare death rates between differently sized age groups.

It reinforces what we’ve been saying for a while. There is far less risk in a full return to school, even if and when kids catch it. They have few if any symptoms have a low probability of passing it on and recover as quickly as any typical flu.

Those few adults who might actually be at risk could take precautions themselves or not work until whatever circumstances satisfy their threshold for risk, or fear. That way, the rest of us can get back to living something closer to normal.
