It is that time of the election cycle where Endorsements, either by individuals or by groups, start rolling out fast and furious. I’ve already made a few of mine known here, Steve here, Norm here. Other Groksters have also made some | all of their choices known.
And of course, as Percy pointed out, the Communist Party USA is all in for Joe Biden – I’m thinking that they REALLY know something that Biden has no clue over.
Not all Groksters have weighed in and some may even change their affiliations as the “hard part” of the cycle really begins in earnest with all kinds of political mud, meant to sway people, starts thrown high and wide enough to shade out the Sun. Some are hedging their bets and some have tactically decided to hold off it bit.
For instance, some, like me, are waiting until all of our GrokGauntlets are done. These are our version of journalists’ “editorial board reviews” in which we make sure (and has been confirmed) to ask questions that have no bearing to what journalists are interested in but do reflect what our Conservatarian readership would ask. Our topics are set up to determine to find out what the candidates political philosophies and try to draw out weakness / strengths in their Constitutional knowledgebase – after all, how can they help constrain Govt if they don’t know what those boundaries mean?
While individual Groksters have rolled out their endorsement, GraniteGrok has not rolled out any yet. We’re starting that process but as we tell the folks that come in, we may endorse you, we may endorse your rival, but know that we hold to a VERY high standard in which very few can meet – most of the times the candidate that wins is “No Endorsement in this race”. We want our Endorsement to mean something special.
Anyways, a question came to my mind – who are the Groksters endorsing as a small Proof of Concept for the software that three of us are writing (I’m the only Grokster actively involved right now)? Are there any overlaps and are there any surprises? I also have asked myself – who is the “Super-Endorser” in NH and will that person/persons actually have any heft to make a difference? And it gives me some actual data to learn some stuff about this new system as well and figure out the best ways of representing that. So, I’ve been AWL (Absent WITH Leave as to opposed With Out) in playing around with this package.
So, for instance: me!
Well, that is rather easy – clean, easy to manipulate in form, and clear in whom I’m supporting. Yeah, no big secret – I will be voting for Trump again. The others are NH House candidates – my District and Mike is from Belmont. More to come but that’s a start.
Now, is there any overlap between me and any other Grokster? Let’s start easy – Steve. He’s gone “higher” thus far:
I didn’t know that Steve (officially, anyways) had endorsed Trump. Now for one more (for now).
Another surprise, kinda. Don lives in my NH House District. I had not realized that he supported three of my choices for the NH House. That’s one thing. The other are the KNOWN endorsements for Steve Negron. Yes, Steve’s is there but as you can see, there are others.
And that’s when it starts, as the title of this post says, gets messy. No, not from a political standpoint but from a visualization one. But that’s for later.
