The Capital Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP, formerly CHAZ)) have created a population of what one “resident” calls, sitting ducks. Any crime up to but not including “life-threatening” goes unpunished and uninvestigated.

“Now every criminal in the city knows they can come into this area, and they can do anything they want, as long as it isn’t life-threatening. And the police won’t come in to do anything about it.”
Mob rules.
And it’s not just among the Chaotic Hapless Occupied Peoples, “response times to 911 calls in the surrounding area have tripled since police vacated the building, according to authorities.” And,
Russell Kimble, who owns an auto shop on 12th Avenue and East Olive Street near the edge of the CHOP, told Q13 Fox that police “would not” respond to a break-in and confrontation at the business.
Being near the CHOP is almost as bad as being in it. Criminals can choose targets outside the occupied zone with little fear of complications. This is Seattle. There’s no Constitutional carry. The laws have gotten more restrictive with significant changes in 2015 and 2018. The net effect is that fewer and fewer adults make an effort to own or use firearms given the increasing liability placed upon them by the state while criminals could care less. And this is Seattle.
“Clearly if it’s something that’s a life-safety situation, somebody injured, shots fired, that kind of thing. We don’t have any other choice. We’re going in,” [Seattle Police Chief Carmen] Best said Tuesday, according to Q13. “If you’re asking about the current situation, it’s not one that I like.”
This is an accurate description of policing in a Liberal city. Something goes sideways, the cops show up to collect details and evidence and then investigate the assault, robbery, rape, or murder of some victim.
Anywhere else, say the rural parts of Washington, the police show up to investigate why you shot the guy breaking into your house. The criminal is the victim.
Liberals create victim classes to advance a political agenda whose goal is to turn all of us into victims. The Chaos in Seattle is just another example of this, and the broader impact it has on law-abiding citizens without defunding the police.
They could save us all a bit of confusion and just surround the occupied zone with crime scene tape. Then, at least, people would know what was in store. And now that I think of it, maybe do the same around every Democrat-run city.
