Don’t behave as I demand: Doc threatens Idaho Rep and his family

Wow, just wow. Just like here in NH, Idaho has skewed rates of infection: urban vs rural. So, there are folks wanting those more rural areas to be freed up as they aren’t under the gun like Boise. However Dr. Robert Burnett feels that for this advocacy, they should be denied medical assistance. Not only two particular individuals but their families as well (reformatted and emphasis mine):

Idaho State Rep. Heather Scott (R) and Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler have been outspoken advocates of reopening the Gem State, particularly in the northern part of the state where the number of Wuhan coronavirus infections is relatively low. The majority of Idaho’s infections are roughly eight hours away in the state capital of Boise and its suburbs.

…Because they have encouraged residents to push back, a doctor at Kootenai Health, the area’s largest hospital, believes that the politicians, along with their families, should not receive adequate treatment should they come down with the Wuhan coronavirus… Dr. Robert Burnett makes clear he would want medical equipment, like ventilators, to go to others

Because you believe that the stay-at-home order is unlawful (which it is not, under state of emergency), and more importantly, have used your public office to encourage others to violate the order, you have put law-abiding citizens, and health care workers at increased risk of infection, hospitalization and death.

As such, your punch has reached my face. It is criminal that you would use your public office to threaten the health of your constituents and your local and regional health care workers. Similar to Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler, the entire medical staff at Kootenai Health is aware of this reckless behavior.

I realize that the pandemic is not much of a concern to those uneducated people who believe this threat is a “hoax” or “overblown,” but I want you to know that in the unlikely but possible event that either you or Sheriff Wheeler contract the coronavirus, and in the less likely event that you will require hospitalization, and even less likely but possible event that you would require a ventilator, that I, and all of my co-workers take comfort in knowing that, because of your behavior, you have essentially relinquished your claim to any of these potentially scarce resources. It’s probably for the better that a ventilator go to a health care provider anyway.

This isn’t about the virus, this is all about retribution and tribalism. If you aren’t part of my “tribe” (shut up, sit down, lock yourselves up until the Ruling Class and Technocrats say otherwise), we will punish you whom we have now judged to be guilty. And like more ancient societies, not only should the actual “guilty”, but WE WILL MAKE YOUR FAMILIES SUFFER AS WELL.

We also see the redefinition of what a Right is that the Left is always squawking about that ANYTHING they don’t like is a the old “fist to the nose” fallacy writ large (and is generally off the mark). The Left takes ANY small behavior by anyone influencing anyone else, causes it to be anti-Right, then immediately calls for a shutdown or retribution of any kind as a “remedy”. It’s a very weak debating technique because it be applied in any situation with any kind of action and usually with much sturm und drang to make you sit down and shut up.

Your remedy when accused thusly is to make them exquisitely define what the Founders’ definition of a Right it – usually the response is a glowering stare, a bit of stammering, and some form of “screw you”. Mostly because they can’t and they know you know more than they do.

Oh, as to that “health care workers at increased risk of infection, hospitalization and death”, you can intensify their sense of outrage by merely pointing out that they can stop being healthcare workers any time they want: which is more status seeking for them – being one or protecting their own families.  Which is more important.

Again, they are trying to place their own responsibility for themselves onto you – it’s a form of Mother’s Guilting; except to your Mom, the proper response is to start laughing at them and simply tell them that you are not responsible for them. Period.

This self-important Doctor also uses the typical Leftist argument: “to those uneducated people”. “How DARE anyone think that I’m not smarter than you – you dumb idiot!” Again, a silencing attitude that basically says, in reality, I got nothing else so here’s the ad hominem attack thrown in. The Left is many things but one of them is that they CANNOT understand that others can (and do) hold opinions other than their own.

But to them, that’s a good part of being a bad Fascist and no, I don’t know how they get from Point A to Planet Zebra on that.

But in the end, this doc is as bad as Mengele (and yes, I’m breaking Godwin’s Law on purpose) in promising actual harm to the Legislator and the Sheriff and their families with respect to needing medical assistance. No, they didn’t “relinquish” anything; by his own words, he is denying help.

So, who IS worse in this case – someone advocating release from the Govt Coronavirus Jail or someone who has just promised to violate their Hippocratic Oath?
