Veteran entertainer Chris Matthews is hanging up his MSNBC cleats. No more Hardball. There’s only so much ‘Leaning Forward’ a guy his age can do (he’s 74). Oh, and then there were those comments about women, and comparing Bernie’s win in Nevada to the Nazi invasion of France.

In other words, he’s turned into Joe Biden. No longer willing to stop himself from saying the first crazy thing that comes to mind. And maybe the studio can’t afford any more lawsuits.
Matthews, 74, unexpectedly announced his taping Monday night of his signature show “Hardball” would be his last, suggesting it was time to move aside for a new generation. He also apologized for any inappropriate compliments he had made about women’s appearances.
“The younger generations out there are ready to take the reins,” he declared. “They are improving the workplace. We’re talking here about better standards than we grew up with, fair standards. A lot of it has to do with how we talk to each other. Compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men, including me, might have once incorrectly thought were OK, were never OK, not then and certainly not today and for making such comments in the past I’m sorry.”
The younger generation. Would those be the reporters that Obama advisor Ben Rhodes who “thinks most of the reporters the White House has to deal with ‘literally know nothing’”? (And he’s right!)
Don’t be offended. Rhodes thinks the rest of us are stupid too. As does ObamaCare Architect Jonathon Gruber who admits to lying to the American people and counted on “the stupidity of the American voter“ to pass ObamaCare.
MSNBC says Matthews was planning to retire in the near future. Right. Just not yesterday. Until it became clear that he was more of a liability than an asset.
Matthews intends to remain active in politics and is working on a doorstop book. If I’d Said Mean things I said about “Republican” Jews and “Republican” Women, I’d Still have a Job.
I’m kidding. I have no idea what the subject is of his book.
