Big businesses fight for irreversible gender transition for kids

In New Hampshire, legislative efforts to stop the medical transition of children, such as bill HB 1532, which would have banned gender reassignment surgery for minors, have failed.

It is legal in New Hampshire to give puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and remove healthy body parts from children who are confused about their gender. This can lead to a myriad of serious health problems and make them into lifelong medical patients.

In Alabama, there is a bill to ban medical transition of children, and, according to the Christian Post, big businesses are fighting to stop it.

Some of the corporations that oppose bans on gender transitioning kids include: Amazon, Apple, Capital One, Hilton, Microsoft, Nestle, Nike, IBM, Bayer, and Ben & Jerry’s, among many others.

Quoting from an open letter signed by these businesses, and published by the Human Rights Campaign:

These bills would harm our team members and their families, stripping them of opportunities and making them feel unwelcome and at risk in their own communities,” these businesses argue in their letter.

As such, it can be exceedingly difficult for us to recruit the most qualified candidates for jobs in states that pursue such laws, and these measures can place substantial burdens on the families of our employees who already reside in these states.”
