“The Islamic Republic of Iran Deeply Regrets this Disastrous Mistake”

After lying about it, Iran has admitted the downing of a Ukranian Passenger plane with a surface to air missile was not the result of some awful video on YouTube.

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

Yes, Iran has admitted it lied made a mistake. It shot down a passenger plane, killing 176 people. And while they claim the guilty parties will be prosecuted, they are still (sort of) blaming the US.

After the missile operation in Iraq, U.S. military flights around Iranian borders increased and Iranian military officials reported seeing aerial targets coming toward strategic centers, according to a statement by Iranian armed forces headquarters.

“The aircraft came close to a sensitive IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) military center at an altitude and flight condition that resembled hostile targeting. Under these circumstances, the aircraft was unintentionally hit, which unfortunately resulted in death of the many Iranian and foreign nationals,” the statement reads.

So, none of this would have happened if the United States stopped defending itself and our neighboring countries from threats of murder and genocide.

They’d like us to die already!

The previous administration, the one that lied about the video, was much more accommodating. This one, not at all. It has put the Moo-Laaahs in an awkward position. One in which it can’t afford to make any more enemies.

The Friend of my Enemy…

Iran has chosen to cooperate with Ukraine (it’s their plane), and Canada (a lot of their citizens died). They need to be conciliatory given that the US is ratcheting up economic pressure while President Trump is now tweeting in Persian directly to Iran’s population.

(It seems telling that no Democrat Candidates for President seem to care about their plight.)

The Trump doctrine for the Islamic Republic is simple. It is not a war doctrine. He’d like to make a deal, but Iran has to stop funding terrorism, threatening other nations with extermination, and killing your citizens when they protest.

And no nukes, sorry. You can’t be trusted.

That’s an oversimplification, but you get the point. Iran is still Iran. They still chant Death to America. But now they also chant this.

In video posted on social media, protesters chanted for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to step down and for those responsible for downing the plane to be prosecuted. “Death to the dictator,” some chanted.

We’ll see where it leads if the world can bring itself to join the fun. Especially since things inside Iran seem a bit different than we are lead to imagine.
