So why do I keep picking on Greta Thunberg, this 16 year old Swedish girl whose claim to fame is to be an eco-socialist scold to world leaders and the rest of us? First off, I hate scolds, especially those that have little idea of what it takes to work a job, pay enormous taxes (because that’s what they do in a huge welfare state even as they have a free market economy – they aren’t Democrat Socialists like Bernie or AOC claim), raise and provide for a family, or even having a modicum of responsibility placed upon her shoulders. Second, if she is going to scold the rest of us who are actually doing such work, at least live up to your hectoring and stop being an Al Gore that wants us to wear hair shirts even as he lives in a relatively newly bought mansion on the West Coast seashore.
I don’t begrudge anything of anyone that they have earned – or have been given. That said, if you’re going to BE a scold, LIVE like one. Greta is in a First Class cabin with all kinds of products packaged in the manner she’s telling us not to use. Sure, the amount of carbon used if in the regular cabin vs First class is nil, but that optic puts her into “virtue-signaling” country.
Yet, there are many adults who are all but literally bowing down to her as if she has been sainted. Well, perhaps she has – after all, eco-socialism is the intersection of two religions – environmentalism and socialism, right? All adorned with dogma, theology, and those playing the role of Pharisees and Sadduces, along with the Medieval Age Popes and cardinals living (at least in that time) the lap of luxury. Even the current Pope, the socialist he is, is calling for the rich nations to give their wealth to the poorer ones. Hmmm, but not turning in the riches of the Church to feed the poor himself?
It’s GRETA TIME!
