I’m late to the party on this but better late than never. Back in August, Democrat Ilhan Omar announced that she thinks the United Nations (UN) should control our southern border. That our “migrant crisis” demands it, more or less.
“There is no good way to detain immigrants,” Omar said Tuesday before during a forum in south Minneapolis, according to the Star Tribune. “We are treating people like criminals when they have not committed a crime.”
First, people walking into your country united are criminals. If they present themselves at the border, you still need to do something with them while you figure out if they are eligible for entry. Vet them to ensure they are not, in fact, criminals or terrorists in other countries.
We can’t just let anyone in or operate on the assumption that if we do, they’ll show up for a hearing when we ask. That’s thinking gave us the opioid crisis, an actual humanitarian crisis created by Democrat open-birder policy.
So, you have to detain them entry or detain them.
And here’s the most crucial point of all. They can choose to turn around and stay in Mexico or go home.
It’s their choice.
Omar, like most Democrats, ignores these realities then assumes that the UN could do anything other than what she wants. Open the borders and just let anyone who shows up into our cities and towns.
It’s a terrible idea, but then most if not all Democrat ideas are awful.
