Why Does the Wakefield NH School Board suddenly Want Common Core?

I recently received word that the town of Wakefield, that after years of resisting, it is opening its arms to Common Core Standards.

We are the only district in New Hampshire, as far as we know, that had the good sense to never adopt Common Core Standards. Three members of our present 5 person School Board have all of a sudden, in two meetings, to adopt Common Core. We have pressured them into having a Public Forum so the people can speak but I’m afraid these three women have already made up their minds. We need to stop them. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m crowdsourcing this because I do not have the time to do it justice. Below are links to videos and minutes from recent meetings. If you have time to watch or read, folks in Wakefield are asking for some help.

  • Why all of a sudden this change of heart?
  • Who or what is behind it?
  • What suggestion can you provide to help them fend this off?

Here are the links. You can email me with any details or discovery you unearth at steve@granitegrok.com

School Board Meeting video can be found here. Looking at September and early October.

Minutes are at the SAU101 Home page
