‘Guns didn’t kill my daughter, Democratic policies did’

Andrew Pollack’s daughter Meadow was shot by Nikolas Cruz in Parkland, Florida. While some were blaming guns (and still are), he was investigating. And in his opinion, and he’s right, it wasn’t a gun that killed his daughter.

In “Why Meadow Died: The People and Policies That Created The Parkland Shooter and Endanger America’s Students,” Pollack discusses his views on gun control, why he blames Democratic policies for his daughter’s murder, and precautions that parents can take to ensure the safety of their children.

That will include a lot of what we have already covered here.

  • The false promise that you’ll be safer in exchange for giving up your right to self-defense.
  • The predictable failure of the government at every opportunity.
  • And, of course, the unspoken truth that even after they disarm you, the state has no obligation to protect you

Time and time again the courts have declared that ‘” government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular individual citizen.”

There is no individual right to state protection for individuals, only a fleeting notion of some investigation after the fact. The left wants to run your life. To hold you in political and cultural custody from birth to death (natural or otherwise.) But without any responsibility for harms that come to you as a result.

Call to Reaction

What the gun-grabbers saw as a call to disarm (they see everything like that) was the opposite and Andrew Pollack knows.  And he’s doing something about it.

Pollack argued that new gun control laws are an ineffective solution to the school shooting epidemic, in part because current laws are not being enforced.  For example, the Parkland shooter had a violent record, but he was not arrested and therefore able to obtain a weapon legally.

The people and the system we “trust’ to enforce them is inherently incompetent. Their response to this incompetence is to demand more trust. To push for more and more gun control. Pollock argues that,

“… gun control would’ve been if they arrested him for punching his mother’s teeth out and he got a background,” explained Pollack. “Democrats put these policies in place that don’t believe in holding kids accountable or arresting them while they’re juveniles…so if they don’t arrest them and they don’t get a background, then they’re able to purchase weapons legally and a background check is useless,” he said.

What the left means is disarmament

And we’ve demonstrated in these pages repeatedly, gun control has nothing to do with public safety. Gun control is about protecting the political class. You and yours are on your own.

“Uncovering all of this,” said Pollack, “it did a lot for me so other parents now can learn from it and that’s what brought me to this book. And the book started as just an investigation, but there was so many jaw-dropping failures that I had to educate other parents.”

I’m encouraged by this work, and I think I may buy this book and read it. There are likely points we’ve not uncovered, and I think it is worth the effort to bring those to our readers. We encourage you to support Mr. Pollack, as well.

Parkland was a tragedy, but it was Democrat policy and deference that made it possible and they need to be held accountable.
