Bernie is telling America we need a $15.00 per hour minimum wage. But when his unionized salaried field staff said they want to make that too, Bernie did what we’ve been saying would happen all along to everyone else. He cut their hours.
The Sander’s campaign is paying union employees at this level $36,000.00 a year salary plus benefits. But that’s for a 40-hour workweek. Most full-time campaign staffers work more than that. They want to get paid for the hours worked.
A draft letter members of the union planned to send to campaign manager Faiz Shakir said that field organizers “cannot be expected to build the largest grassroots organizing program in American history while making poverty wages,” according to the Post. “Given our campaign’s commitment to fighting for a living wage of at least $15.00 an hour, we believe it is only fair that the campaign would carry through this commitment to its own field team.”
So, it’s not for the people; it’s for the profit? Bernie’s not having it.
Bernie Sanders says his campaign will limit the hours staffers work so they are paid the equivalent of $15 an hour. “I’m very proud to be the first presidential candidate to recognize a union and negotiate a union contract,” he told me. https://t.co/IBJdMiIIIu

He cut their hours and is probably hoping, greedy bastard that he is, that at least some of them will work more anyway.
I’ve been in a union. That’s not going to go over well. Over-achievers can find themselves in a bad way if they make a habit of making their other union brothers and sisters (or whatever the hell they call them in the age of identity politics) look bad. That’s not done.
It’s a full-blown labor/management dispute, and the people on both sides are communists. I wonder how that’s going to work out?
I’m making popcorn!
