Democrat State Senate Advances 13 Billion Dollar Budget Meant to Be Vetoed

Democrats in the State Senate are selling this pig as a budget for New Hampshire. It’s a budget for Democrats. They claim they’ve been in communication with the governor so why does it have things in it they know he will never support? Like an income tax.

Failed paid family leave is a tax on income. Sununu will not sign off on it. But the Democrats crammed it into the budget anyway.

The business tax cuts which have continued to fuel New Hampshire’s climb to the top of the economic heap in the Northeast are over.  Sununu opposes that.

This budget is made to fail, so let’s assume that was the point.

The State Senate will vote on it next week and baring changes I expect Sununu to veto it which is what Democrats must want.

NHGOP Chair Steve Stepanek had this to say.

“The budget passed today out of the Senate Finance Committee is a total disaster. Today’s budget establishes a $132 million shortfall over the biennium, creates a state income tax, increases spending by 13.2%, raises business taxes, and is fiscally irresponsible and insolvent. We stand by the Governor and his concerns over the Senate Finance Committee proposal, and we hope the Senate will amend the budget to make it one that works for New Hampshire and protects the New Hampshire Advantage.”

Ready your selves for another budget-battle summer. That means supporting a veto of the budget and Republicans in both chambers whom the left and the media will try to peel off to support a veto override of higher taxes, income taxes, and massive spending increases.

It’s your money. Protect it from a greedy government. Because you do know better how to spend it than they do.
