As a former bartender, you’d think she would have better delivery. Sadly, not so. The Freshman Congresscritter Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) now insists that when she claimed the earth only has twelve years left, she was kidding.

She’s poking fun of the GOP but we were making fun of her all along. We knew it was a joke – the whole policy agenda is scam. But what about the Democrats?
I can’t recall how many Democrats pretending to be journalists, scientists pretending to be objective, or actual Democrats have repeated this joke. I’m not disagreeing with the suggestion that they have the social intelligence of a sea sponge, but it is a lot of people. None of whom were in on the joke and now have to explain why they failed to get it.
Let’s take two minutes and see if we can find some clues.

So, you see the problem?
AOC was serious. She had to be. The entire New Green Deal is predicated on an imminent global disaster if the government doesn’t do something radical right now. And she’s backtracking.
But by doing so, she is yanking the rug out from under several months of what Democrats call ‘Serious Debate’ about climate (and policy). Which is to say, it is not serious.
It’s just politics.
And nothing proves that more than this.
