A Heart Attack Couldn’t Keep Me From Blogging…(Yeah, It’s Been a Year)

One year ago today I had a heart attack. And the only reason I wasn’t blogging on April 9th instead of April 10th is my laptop wasn’t with me at the hospital yet.

My wife brought it by the next day. (I was texting after the procedure and sending email until my phone battery ran out of juice.) Seems a bit obsessive but at least I don’t expect you to accept me as a dog.

Stir

If you’ve ever been upright and conscious in ICU, there’s not a lot to do. I was “both” the whole time (except for a few hours of sleep at night). Between visits from family and friends and the hourly check of vitals, there was nothing but ‘free time.’ The activity calendar is wide open after you survive my variety of what the cardiologist later described to me as a “major heart attack.”

Thanks to medical technology the repair-work was very low-impact leaving me more or less the same except for a damaged heart muscle and some metal in two arteries I’d have to explain to TSA with a little card they provide at the hospital.

I don’t fly much, so I’ve had no occasion to show them my stent ID. And it took a while, but the heart muscle is back where it should be.

As for the rest, nothing you figured you’d be doing before is getting done for a few weeks or months. No yard work all summer (woo hoo!). But, thankfully my primary hobby only requires a wireless connection and a device with a keyboard or a keypad.

By mid-day the day after I was blogging again. I haven’t stopped yet nor do I plan too. And we have big plans for Ganitegrok.

There is one downside. I have no excuse to get out of yard work this year.

So, here’s to a few more years (when I’m not doing yard work) of triggering the left until they are apoplectic. And Making America Great Again.  Or How about Greater?
