The Daily Wire reported earlier this week that Nancy Pelosi might be at the end of her rope. Freshmen Democrats won’t stop talking about socialism and massive government programs that will bankrupt the country. So, she asked Barack Obama to talk to them. It didn’t work.
The Problem
A few freshman House Democrats are pushing massive government expansions. Things every Democrat wants. But the newbies are selling it with their socialism on their sleeves. The huge intrusions. Massive costs. Loss of private options or control.
For decades Democrats have been pushing massive expansions of government. Obamacare. Liz Warren’s Consumer protection bureau. Dodd-Frank. The list is long. But they never openly admitted to the market disruptions and individual consequences that come with them. Like the loss of choice or liberty. And never the actual fiscal cost.
Bring in the Obama
Nancy asked her buddy Barack to have a chat with a room full of these troublemakers. Give them some advice about hiding your hand. Use your poker face.
“He encouraged the lawmakers — about half-dozen of whom worked in his own administration — to continue to pursue ‘bold’ ideas as they shaped legislation during their first year in the House,” the Post said, but encouraged “members to look at price tags.”
“He said we shouldn’t be afraid of big, bold ideas — but also need to think in the nitty-gritty about how those big, bold ideas will work and how you pay for them,” one meeting attendee told the Post.
He’s telling them you need to frame it so people don’t know or can’t tell what it will cost. Then, when they try to get at that number, call them names, and point to some imagined misery that will continue if the Left isn’t allowed to do the people’s business.
To borrow from Mr. Trump, it’s Democrats “Defrauding the public with ridiculous Bulls**t.”
The biggest mouths in the freshman class think Obama is a sellout. And they are planning road shows for things like the Green New Deal. A nationwide promotional tour pushing their 19th-century vision for America.
I can’t wait.
