I’ll give up the Death Penalty for the convicted if you Democrats give up the death penalty for innocent babies

Death Penalty

HB455 – “This bill changes the penalty for capital murder to life imprisonment without the possibility for parole.”

The Democrats have been pushing for this for years. I guess they believe that convicted murderers (pretty much the only crime that would receive a death penalty but only for a very few situations – like shooting a cop.  Me? Nope).  I never liked that distinction as ALL lives should matter and when a criminal makes the decision to take someone’s life, freedom, and liberty, the State should be obligated to consequence that decision in the harshest way possible. The problem is that while the victim is already dead, the perp can still have their life for another 20, 30, or more years.  Justice delayed is justice denied and with the vast number of appeals available, it can take years for the sentence to be applied as we are seeing for Michael Addison who shot Michael Briggs at point blank range back in 2006.  Do the math – continued life for Addison: 13 years and Briggs: 0.

How many more years at taxpayer expense will Addison get to live while Briggs get none? Those that voted to repeal the law had “fairness” in their minds – why is it fair to us to pay for his expensive housing? Where does our sense of justice now go who believe that there truly are those evil monsters amongst us that should pay that penalty?

Thirteen years?  Yeah, justice delayed. I disagree with those that say that it continues doesn’t help like Rep Renny Cushing said “All it does is widen the circle of violence.” Where’s the proof of that, sir?  What DOES “widen” that circle is that criminals know that they won’t be put to death – they will never be subjected to the ultimate penalty.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are perfect fine – no, strike that.  They are actively pursuing the deaths of innocents up to and after being born.  How evil is that – save the convicted and poison / snip the neck / render limb from limb / babies with such unlimited potential?  How can they hold both positions at the time and still look at themselves in the mirror without cringing at this thought? They say that the State, on one had, should preserve a life; yet, they also have the State say it should destroy a life.

What did that baby due to deserve a horrible death? Why?  What have they done to deserve the ultimate penalty simply for the fact that their mother and father did an act that created them?

Those that say it is immoral to kill a convict but moral to kill that new life?  How can they live with themselves?

How can they now look into the eyes of the Briggs family who are still waiting for justice without shame?  How will they be able to look into future family members, victims as well, without stigma?

And how can they look into their own eyes in the mirror without seeing the eyes of those tiny lives they have allowed to be taken?
