Donald Trump Frees Poland From Russian Energy Influence

The Russians must be stupid. They, at least according to a number of unreliable sources, “helped” Donald Trump win the election. So, what? So, he is damaging their economy. Mr. Trump has opposed Russian interests, none more than energy production. He just robbed them of their Gas contracts in Poland.

Europe needs Natural gas. Russia has been a chief supplier. Poland is not just a close geographic neighbor with a long memory; it also needs natural Gas from Russia. “Needed” Natural Gas from Russia. Thanks to Mr. Trump’s energy policy Poland won’t need Russia for that anymore.

Russia supplies roughly half of Poland’s fuel, but long-term contracts with American companies signed by Poland’s state-owned gas giant PGNiG could displace all of Russia’s supply. U.S.-based companies Cheniere Energy, Venture Global LNG and Sempra Energy have all signed agreements with Poland in the last six months.

“The strategy of the company is just to forget about Eastern suppliers and especially about Gazprom,” PGNiG President Piotr Wozniak told The NYT.

It is made possible thanks to US fracking.

Our massive gas reserves are being sold to countries in Europe. This frees them from dependence on Russia and denies Putin and his oligarchs the revenue. Democrats, if you forgot, would end fracking. That would enrich and empower Russia. But hey, Putin wanted to lose all that power and influence, so he helped elect trump. Right?

Now if we could get the same Democrats to allow American natural gas into New England and New Hampshire. The progressive environmental stonewalling has made it impossible to add infrastructure to get it here. So, we’re getting our natural gas (at much higher prices) from overseas.
