Morse, French oppose anti-worker legislation passed in Senate

Concord, NH – Today, the New Hampshire Senate voted ought to pass on SB 19 and SB 249. These two pieces of legislation violate the privacy of public employees across the state and unionize legislative staff in Concord. Senate Republican Leader Chuck Morse (R-Salem) and Senator Harold French (R-Franklin) issued the following statements:

“Unionizing legislative staff will make it more difficult for our employees to effectively do their job,” said Senate Republican Leader Chuck Morse (R-Salem). “It would create a conflict in the workplace if the state employee union endorses a candidate running against the Senator or Representative that the legislative employee works for, or if the union endorses a candidate in a race that ultimately ends up losing and the employee ends up working for their opponent. This is not a good way to run the State House and this is not a position we should put State House employees in.”

“Offering the private information of public employees to any third-party organization is a gross violation of trust,” said Senator Harold French (R-Franklin). “I am disappointed that our Democratic colleagues voted against an amendment that would have protected our public employees basic right to have a say whether their private information is released. It is my hope that we can stop sending so many pieces of legislation that benefits union leadership, but is anti-worker, over to the House and start supporting every Granite Stater instead.”
