Quick Shot: Gucci pulls ‘blackface sweater’

No, GraniteGrok is not becoming a fashion blog. But when ‘fashion’ collides with left-wing identity politics, twice in one day, we’ll try to be there. And here we are. Gucci has a sensitivity problem. No, it’s not the cut or the fabric it’s the color.

They have a pretentious product placement for fashionable Antifa types.  But it almost makes you look like the Governor of Virginia. Or maybe his AG. Tsk, tsk.

Yes, Gucci must be punished for selling this sweater. It is offensive. But not because it is black. It’s dumb and ugly in any color. Speaking of which, does it come in white? Could someone get the Balaclava knit top in Beige, Yellow, or Red?

ROME — Gucci has apologized after complaints that a wool sweater with an oversized collar designed to cover the face resembled blackface makeup, and said the item had been pulled from its online and physical stores.

It was the latest case of a fashion house having to apologize for cultural or racial insensitivity — and further evidence that Italy in particular has a wretched record with racial insensitivity staining everything from fashion to soccer to politics.

To answer my own question, I think not. Gucci’s $890.00 dollar masterpiece comes in black. But that’s okay. Who can honestly put a price on the left’s social self-immolation over the fires of their own identity politics?

And the pretentious rubes who bought it can never wear it again.

That is priceless.
