ICYMI: Steve Negron Launches Veterans Roundtable Series
Nashua, NH – Steve Negron, a U.S. Air Force veteran and small business owner, has launched his first “Sgt. Mark Brophy ‘Vets’ Choice’ Veterans Roundtable” this week in Plymouth. The roundtable is the first of many events in this series over the next week.
Sgt. Mark J. Brophy of Nashua was a decorated veteran of the United States Army, having earned the rank of Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) prior to his honorable discharge in 1990. Sgt. Brophy passed away in July after battling Stage IV prostate cancer for two years. He was a patient at the VA Manchester/Roxbury where he was not provided any direction on clinical trials that could have potentially prolonged his life. Sgt. Brophy’s family and friends remain heartbroken that these clinical trials in Boston were not given any consideration by his caseworkers at the VA.
Steve Negron issued the following statement:
“It was a true privilege to host these veterans roundtables and hear directly from our brave men and women who have sacrificed tremendously for our country on the the issues they face.
“Kuster has it wrong. It is not about salary increases and bonuses for those working at the VA. The fixes needed are to make care happen for our veterans. Period. Kuster might better understand this if she spent more time holding town hall meetings with them rather than worrying about her next Washington, DC fundraiser. We must not allow the VA to continue to fail our veterans like they did in Sgt. Brophy’s case.
“Putting New Hampshire veterans second to anyone’s agenda is simply not acceptable in the Granite State. I look forward to continuing these discussions and working towards solutions that give veterans the care they have earned.”
Steve Negron is a Republican candidate for Congress in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District.
