With two weeks to go before the Mid-Term elections, the latest Granite State Poll shows Steve Negron shaving seven points off Democrat Washington Insider Ann Kuster’s lead.
Kuster still maintains a double-digit edge 53-38 percent with Negron’s biggest barrier being name-recognition. But two months ago 88% of those polled didn’t know enough about the candidate to say. That number is down to 67%.
We also need to remember 2016. There are a large number of voters who became engaged in 2016 who were off the radar. These are the folks who pushed Mr. Trump into the oval office. These relative newcomers have one recent election under their belt but are highly motivated to protect the Presidents majority. Given that most polls didn’t account for them in 2016 it’s safe to say this is still the case.
Is it enough to close the gap? Kuster’s campaign has to assume it might, but the Negron campaign isn’t likely taking any chances. While the Left provides ample issues against which to run.
The Democrats are running on incivility, raising taxes, gun control, and open borders. These are all opportunities to get Republican and Independent voters to the polls fourteen days from now to vote against any or all of that.
We can hope that they do, but a better strategy is for folks already activated by these issues to talk to family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they understand what’s at stake. The economic recovery is in danger if Democrats win. More money will disappear from your wallets. Rights will be stripped away by a fresh round of regulatory and statutory overreach. The erosion of local control. Remind them that porous borders are responsible for the rise in drug deaths and drug-related crime including right in New Hampshire. And if Democrats win it is a validation of the mob culture the Left has embraced to get their way at any cost. Even if that cost happens to be you or your family.
I can’t tell you how it will turn out and I’m not sure anyone can. Much like 2016, a lot of folks are keeping their heads down, their powder dry, waiting for the opportunity to express their priorities via the secret ballot. Until that vote is counted, we can only speculate about the outcome.
Until then, let folks now they have a great candidate in Steve Negron and that he needs your support to send the message that higher taxes, less opportunity, and the mob culture are not right for New Hampshire.
The poll has a 3.9% +/- margin of error.
