UPDATED: The Senate has confirmed Brett Kavanaugh, after weeks of attempted delays by the Democrats and making baseless accusations of being a drunk and of sexually assaulting women when he was a teenager. It even went to the point of some of the Leftist media making the innuendo that he was a pedophile on top of everything else.
The Democrats have lost by two votes. That said, the Democrats have lost BIGLY. First, by President Trump, who they never thought could win and have done everything to stymie his agenda, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. And again, and the most important way, they have lost their hold on what they used as a “Super-Legislative Assembly” – the Supreme Court. For the first time since 1939, SCOTUS is now a majority Conservative court whose member actually have and will judge by events and law by the Foundational Law of the Land – the original black and white letters, the philosophy, and the spirit of the Constitution. At the risk of a bit of sacrilege, “rightly dividing the Word of Truth”.
It is also clear, based on statistics, Trump will probably get another bite at this apple due to age and health – another instance of keeping his campaign promise. As Obama observed (with a nasty tone, I might add), elections have consequences and Trump can smile broadly and repeat Obama’s words: “I won”.
Not only that, but the Democrats have lost BIGLY another way – they were heading for a Blue Wave election. They have reminded the American people to what level they are willing to stoop to both gain a political advantage and forwarding their agenda. In doing so, they fired up the Right of Center folks whose, to be kind, interest in this midterm election just a month away was really flagging. The Democrats have now made this a sterling Object Lesson: if they win, this is what they will do. And if they can do this to Brett Kavanaugh, they will do it to your father, your brothers, your uncles…..and your sons. They poked Mama Grizzlies. Sucks to be Democrats now.
That doesn’t mean that Democrats won’t win – it does mean it won’t be the cakewalk they’ve been crowing about.
It may well really sucks to be them. They may gain the US House but lately, it is looking like they won’t. It is also becoming clear that the Republicans might even gain some seats in the US Senate. Sucks to us if they do take over but it will really suck to be them if those above scenarios come true.
In any case, now confirmed Brett Kavanaugh may well become US Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh as soon as next Tuesday and he will sit on that bench for the entire session. Donald Trump just tweeted out:
I applaud and congratulate the U.S. Senate for confirming our GREAT NOMNEE, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, to the United States Supreme COurt. Later today, I will sign his Commission of Appointment, and he will be officially sworn in. Very exciting!
Wonder if Trump would fly him out and swear him in at his political rally later on today?
And the best winner of all, after Trump and Kavanaugh?
Vice-President Pence! Later on that.
