Banks took loads of public money in bailouts. Now they want to discriminate against individuals and legal businesses engaged in constitutionally protected activities, one of which we reported here.
[Citi Bank] will not permit their financial services (credit cards) to be accepted for the purchase of firearms by anyone under the age of twenty-one. I assume this includes public safety, members of the military, private security, young moms in rural areas, and women in high-crime Democrat-run rape and robbery zones.
The NRA says, report them to Liz Warren’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
One way banking consumers concerned about BofA’s and Citigroup’s antigun discrimination can make their views known is to submit a complaint directly to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB is an entity of the U.S. Government charged with “mak[ing] consumer financial markets work for consumers, responsible providers, and the economy as a whole.” Its mandates include “[r]ooting out unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices,” taking “consumer complaints,” and “[m]onitoring financial markets for new risks to consumers.”
Particularly useful would be complaints by any business or individual who was directly affected by the BofA’s or Citigroup’s new policies.
I know, you could pay cash and skip the banking voodoo but if you are inclined to make a case and have had your 2A rights infringed by a bank you can file your complaint here.
You can also contact State Attorneys General where such actions are in direct contradiction to state law but you are on your own figuring out the states to which this may apply other than Michigan, which I know prohibits banning sales to anyone 18-20 years of age in state statute.
