FB Doodlings: Who speaks for the father? Who speaks up for the innocent child?

baby in wombIn the Concord Monitor a bit ago, a Dr. Oge Young had a piece on abortion with the thrust being (emphasis mine):

Many people seem to think a woman’s pregnancy is an open invitation to decide what is best for her. Lawmakers who know nothing of a woman’s complex life circumstances should have no voice in her decision making, particularly when it comes to pregnancy.

The U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v Wade, handed down more than 40 years ago, in no way resolves the divisiveness and polarization surrounding abortion. The decision was not written to protect women’s rights, but instead to protect the privacy of the physician-patient relationship. Once more we are seeing legislation throughout the country and in our state that define what is medically necessary…

…Instead, it is about creating obstacles based on ideological differences. The barrage of legislation attempting to regulate abortion represents a distrust of both women and physicians. The laws show disregard for the years care providers have devoted to clinical judgment, medical/surgical skills, counseling and developing relationships with patients.

And completely misses, and worse, ignores, what the “other side” actually believes.  This is a strawman argument severl ways:

  • The Supreme Court, in their Roe vs Wade decision, sidestepped the legislative process in their decision concerning abortion; one that many believe, even those supporting abortion, was wrongly decided.  Instead, the legislative process should have been allowed to process through the States instead of being a nationally fiat decision.  Thus, it remains a political decision even as Young states “Lawmakers who know nothing…”
  • The decision was not written to protect women’s rights, but instead to protect the privacy of the physician-patient relationship“; and therein lies the absolute disconnect between the “kill the baby; no biggie” vs the “the baby’s life is precious” divide.
  • “The barrage of legislation attempting to regulate abortion represents a distrust of both women and physicians.” – can’t have it both way, Dr. Progressive – let me as the question: if lawmakers should stay out of this, shouldn’t they stay out of most things and keep their noses in their own mirror instead of in our faces?

Sorry, but this is what the Progressives have wrought.  This is what I left:

Not once did he invoke his oath on behalf of that new life that her decision (along with the father) led to. I, once again, see the societal pushing the father into the black hole as if he were of no account. Yes, certainly there are those guys that are of no account – but who speaks for those that aren’t? Or the unborn child – why is that new life treated as if it were of no account?

My point is that while other lives are impacted and are invested in a pregnancy, Society has all but silenced them. That is wrong.

At least the first time – the below was deleted my first time:

Once again we see the bias that Society has come to concerning the new life that the mother decided, along with the father, in an action that could result in such an outcome? Who speaks for that unborn baby, Dr. Young? Why is Society not standing up for that child?

And why is it that Society pushes that father completely out of the picturedid he not have some responsibility as well? Yes, certainly some are of no account – but many, if not most, are not. Who gets to speak for them in this respect?

Hey, their site and their rules.  I just happen to have a voice, GraniteGrok, that is louder than theirs.
