Alternative Lifestyle title: This is not “The Awareness” You Were Looking For…
Professor Mari Poindexter, from Michigan, punched herself in the face and blamed “a guy at a Toby Keith Concert” for it. The police began to suspect it was a hoax,
“..when the investigators informed Poindexter that there was also surveillance footage of the parking lot, (and) she became anxious. She said she was no longer interested in viewing any video which might incriminate her assailant.”
The lying lesbian professor, having milked the internet for pity and attention (after punching herself in the face and sharing it, and her tall tale, on social media) is reported to have then become suicidal over…getting caught?
Poindexter made up the story and cold-cocked herself in her own right eye “because she wanted to raise awareness about the social hardships of people in the LGBTQ+ community,” according to court documents.
So…when deciding you are a lesbian fails to get you the attention you desire you fake a hate crime? Is that the awareness you were looking for? Or was it that you need psychiatric help?
After the call (admitting the fraud), Poindexter sought psychiatric help in Grand Rapids. She was in psychiatric care in August when police found out about the false report. Because of the state of her mental health, Poindexter took a leave of absence from CMU.
The university’s Office of LGBTQ Services released a statement on March 8, encouraging the community to show empathy for Poindexter.
“While facing mental health challenges does not absolve Mari of accountability, it helps us understand why our offering compassion rather than judgement and isolation is so important,” it states.
What isolation? Put her in with the general population. She’ll have all the attention and “treatment” she needs.
All kidding aside, are there simply not enough legitimate high-profile hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community (and others) to satisfy the narrative?
Do we need stronger punishments to disincentivize the snowflakes from using hoaxes to fulfill their desperate need for attention?
Has it not occurred to any of these “awareness ambassadors” that falsely accusing someone of a hate crime is a hate crime? That actual hate crimes become increasingly difficult to sort out because of the hoax culture’s chronic dependence on validation for their life choices and world views.
You may be harming actual victims when you do this.
And Mari Poindexter knew this to such a degree that she punched herself in the face to give her lie more credibility.
Therapy, indeed.
I did try to figure out what Mari Poindexter taught at CMU but she has taken down her LinkedIn Page and the college web site was not helpful.
Whether we learn her educational discipline or not I’ll add this hoax hate crime to the growing list, which should include the Mizzou Musical, ‘Le Mizz,’ currently in its Third Act.
