“Politics is the art of controlling your environment.” —Hunter S. Thompson
Concerned Veterans for America hosted a, “Thank A Vet” Barbecue at the Londonderry Fish & Game Club with about 100 in attendance. Also in attendance were Candidates Gary Lambert, Marilinda Garcia, Frank Guinta, Karen Testerman, Jim Rubens, Bob Smith and Andrew Hemingway. Governor Hassan sent a personal message and greetings, as did Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster. Steve Monier of Kelly Ayottes Office appeared for the event and a message was sent from Senator Jeanne Shaheen. Also on hand to thank our vets were a number of State Reps to include Rep. Al Baldasaro, Ralph Boehm and a few others.
Despite the heavy political presence, there were no, “politics.” This was a non-partisan event, geared to appreciation of veterans and their faithful service to our nation and some discussion about the abysmal performance of our Veterans Administration. This event was neutral territory. There were rumblings that Scott Brown was going to make an appearance, but that never materialized.
Yet, what is most intriguing to me is that Scott Brown is indeed, retired military…and he was a “no show.” This is one venue where he would not likely have been peppered or bantered with questions. So where was Scott Brown? Was it all the cameras and press?
