Palate Cleanser (?) – Famous Vegan Eating Meat Again

Crispy_bacon_1-1-Alex Jamieson was a vegan for 12 years, appeared in the movie Super-Size me, and has been a well-regarded prominent voice in–they actually have this–the vegan community, but she recently discovered that her body was asking her for things she was not providing.  Animal protein.  So she began adding it slowly back into her diet, and she says she feels healthier for it.

But when she spoke privately to vegan friends with regard to her changing feelings about food:

“…their reactions were more about their concern for my participation in the movement and how this was going to hurt veganism not what was best for me.”

Surprise!

Alex says, that when she announced on her blog that she had begun introducing animal protein back into her diet she received over 1000 comments including, did you guess?, hate and death threats.

For our part, Alex, you can eat whatever types of food you and your body feel you need.  Vegan, porketarian, somewhere in between, you decide.  But get used to the hate.
