“We have to fight back if they come for Jeanne. She shares our values and stands up for them,” -Senator Bob Menendez

Shaheen

It looks like Senator Robert ‘Bob’ Menendez is fundraising for New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen.  Well, there’s a wise decision.  Robert has been  implicated in a number of suspect behaviors for a sitting US Senator, not the least of which was accusations of sex with underage Dominican prostitutes.

What are the Shaheen optics on that, “well, as long as they had free contraception and access to taxpayer funded abortions without interference from a parent or guardian it’s no big deal.”(?)

With or without the child-whores Menendez is still a professional scum-bag with deep connections to big banking, not at all an evil if the scumbag is donating to Democrats but verrrry bad if you are not.  His entire career is surrounded with controversy and accusations of corruption.  Back in 2010 when Paul Hodes ran (maybe stumbled is a better word) for the US Senate, I observed of Menendez that…

Senator Menendez or his office have been implicated in a cozy relationship with a Hudson County land development deal.  There have been accusations of hiring a specific contractor at a hospital as a favor to Mr. Menendez to share in a federal contract.  Menendez (like many Hodes donors) has a canny knack for having  former chiefs of staff–turned lobbyist–cited in investigations where their clients may have been helped by the Senator to get federal contracts.  There was even a situation in which his office “appeared” to be (8) pressuring the Fed to take measures to prevent a specific local New Jersey bank from being put into receivership.  He has also been under investigation for helping to get approval of a federal contract for a group to whom he rents property.

Tip-o-the-iceberg?

More recently…

On January 5, 2012 Menendez blocked Judge Patty Shwartz, an Obama administration nominee to a federal judgeship, drawing speculation that the block was placed because of Shwartz’s relationship with the head of the public corruption unit for New Jersey’s federal prosecutor who had investigated the senator during his 2006 election fight.[102] Menendez denied personal motivation for the block. He has long contended that the corruption investigation was politically motivated.[103][104] The investigation was closed in late 2011, with no charges filed.[105]

On December 12, 2012 it was reported that the Senator’s office had an unpaid intern volunteering who had let his visitor visa expire and who was a registered sex offender. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had been aware of the man as early as October 2012 but according to the Associated Press, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) instructed federal agents not to arrest the man until after Election Day. Menendez denied knowing about the allegation of the directive to delay the arrest and only recently learned of the arrest. According to two federal officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case, the intern was arrested in front of his home in New Jersey on December 6, 2012.[106][107]

It was reported on March 14, 2013, that a federal grand jury in Miami is investigating Menendez regarding his role in advocating for the business interests of ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen.[108]

After a while you have to ask yourself…is this the most unlucky-lucky guy ever?  Year after year this Democrat is implicated in dirty politics but he never seems to suffer for it.  If he were a Republican he’d be lucky to be working as a greeter at Wal Mart, but in New Jersey he is a sitting US Senator.  A Senator who is helping fund the campaign of New Hampshire’s Senator Jeanne Shaheen.   I wonder if they hang out? Have lunches?  Make small talk?  We know they share the same values….

NHGOP CALLS ON SHAHEEN TO RETURN TAINTED DONATIONS FROM MENENDEZ FUNDRAISING EMAIL

Ethically Challenged NJ Senator Raising Money For Shaheen Because She Shares His “Values”

Concord – New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Jennifer Horn today called on Senator Jeanne Shaheen to return tainted contributions she received from a fundraising email authored by ethically challenged New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez. According to the Washington Post (3/14/13) Menendez is currently being investigated by a federal grand jury for his “role in advocating for the business interests of a wealthy donor.”

“It is disgraceful that Senator Shaheen would welcome tainted contributions from a politician who is at the center of a major ethics scandal and being investigated by a federal grand jury. In order to uphold the integrity of her office, Senator Shaheen needs to immediately return Menendez’s dirty money and call for him to step down as chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations,” said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn.

In an email sent out by Menendez on April 6 to donors, Menendez asked for contributions because Shaheen shares his “values.”

“We have to fight back if they come for Jeanne. She shares our values and stands up for them,” wrote Menendez. “We can’t take any chances with Jeanne.”

“New Hampshire voters want to be represented by independent and principled leaders who will stand up to the culture of corruption in Washington. They don’t want a senator like Jeanne Shaheen who shares her values with an ethically challenged New Jersey politician,” said Horn.

Shaheen also accepted a $7,500 contribution from Menendez’s New Millennium PAC (Opensecrets.org) that she has refused to return.
