Jake Tapper – how many OTHER MSMers are willing to call Obama and Bloomie idiots?

Since Aurora and Sandy Hook, we who like to shoot and support the Right that the Second Amendment enshrines have just about had it in listening to all kinds of folks who believe that they know best for society with respect to “gun violence”.

Sidenote: and we all know that this phrase is a made up / focus group created phrase that means nothing special; violence is violence, regardless if a “violence tool” is used or not (are hands and feet considered to be a “violence tool” too?)

They tell us “you don’t need this”, “I don’t know anyone that…”, “it is for the common good”, “we have to consider the safety and security” and the one phrase they believe renders them harmless against all logical arguments: “this is for the children” (er, we are supposed to shut up at that point, otherwise we are selfish, cold hearted, and hate everyone else). Progressives are oft to say “Hey, trust Government – the best and brightest work here!”.  In fact, one of their basic theorems of governance is that those in Government DO know better than you in how to order and run your life and those of your family, and Civil Society as a whole.  Why?  Because they TRULY believe they are smarter than those of us they wish to rule.

And then, as Grokster Rick and Susan point out here and here, they do the one thing that renders them weaponless: they open their mouths and speak.

We see how false their narrative is in the firearms arena – how serious were we supposed to take them when they started to spout off about nomenclature pertaining to the gun culture and get the basics absolutely wrong.  Look, I am NOT a gun guru – I’m passable with a handgun and learning rifles and shotguns and I have a lot to learn in a lot of different areas.  That said, this whole “we have to do gun control” goes well beyond the actual hunks of metal, plastics, and powders.

They can’t tell clips from magazines, think that cosmetic type things are actually adding to the scariness / lethality of a firearm, and have no ideas of what the different calibers do. Yet, it doesn’t matter.  Yes, this is a gun grabber’s dream time right now, but flip that around, can we?

Can’t we expect our elected politicians, if they are going to change how we live our lives, to actually know something about what they are legislating?

Isn’t that just a basic part of the job?  And if you don’t know what you are writing or voting on laws dealing with a subject domain, can’t they just look in the mirror and tell themselves “oh, perhaps we are just mortals after all?” instead of the demi-gods they believe themselves to be?  What is so wrong in saying “I have no clue; perhaps I should remain silent and learn – and don’t vote until I do”?

Which brings me back to the above video – why has it taken this long for someone in the mainstream media like Jake Tapper (moving from ABC to CNN) to really show how stupid these people look and hold them up to the ridicule they so richly deserve?  Or if not stupidity, the crassness in going beyond the truth simply for political points and an agenda?  In both cases, both Obama and NYC Mayor Bloomberg, either out of ignorance or willful disregard, made it seem that a true weapon of war, a fully automatic carbine, was what Lanza and Holmes used in their mass shootings. Supposedly, the Smartest President In History should know better right?  And also, because of the honor of the office, not lie about such details if he knows the truth, right?

Why has the MSM not kept them on the straight and narrow?  I think Rush had it right today – we have now seen them gone from having a bias in reporting the news to using “news” to shape public opinion for a given agenda; there can no longer be any other explanation.  Why else would I be writing this post like this about a single clip?  Try this – because it is a single clip, itself is news and commentary worthy for simply reporting the who, the when, and the what.  What a concept!  Which means we should hold suspect other reporting (or rather, other articles of opinion masquerading as news), yes?

Certainly, Glen Reynolds had it right when he coined the phrase “Democrat operatives with bylines

(H/T: Redstate)

Updatea couple more thoughts:

The current Sen. Chuck Schumer version of the background check bill would forbid a “temporary transfer” to a friend for target shooting if the range is not “owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization organized for conservation purposes or to foster proficiency in firearms.” Got it?

I had forgotten about this stupidity from Schumer – this has nothing about gun control but everything about controlling people.  It is, however, having the power to decide to use a bazooka to kill a fly.   This is all about turning friends into felons if that place where you go to shoot is not a formal range.  So what Schumer is legislating is not that I can’t let you shoot a few rounds if we are in a rural area where no one else is there, and that the only places that shooting can be done is at a range.  One place is free (like at an abandoned quarry) and one costs you money to exercise a Constitutional Right.

Once again, make it more expensive and more of a hassle to shoot – once again, we see the Greedy Politicians just aching to control other peoples’ lives to force them to behave in the ways THEY believe to be correct.  And if you don’t, simply for letting a buddy or a family member shoot a few rounds in the right place, Schumer is perfectly willing to make an otherwise lawful abiding citizen, a felon.
