Our new Secretary of State, John Kerry

He’s a veteran of the Vietnam War. I’m a veteran of Vietnam too. I was in the Marines in Vietnam.

The U.S. Secretary of State is…

…the chief adviser to the President on foreign affairs and dealing with foreign countries. It is one of the most powerful and important Cabinet positions.

In the 1960’s Kerry was a huge anti-war protester and organizer. In the early 1970’s he was on the national executive committee of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). He testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Comittee in Washington, DC on April 23, 1971 where he said that our effort to defeat communism in Vietnam was a criminal war of colonialism, and that American servicemen were rapacious, murderous criminals.

With the protesters of the time, John Kerry led anti-war protests and chanted “Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Minh, NLF is going to win!” The “NLF” was the “National Liberation Front,” a communist North Vietnamese organization set up in South Vietnam to help with the invasion and defeat of the non-communist people of South Vietnam. They ultimately succeeded, with the help of the Viet Cong (South Vietnamese communists), the VVAW, and John Kerry.

I remember all these things. I heard them myself. I spent almost two years in South Vietnam, from 1968 to 1970. I remember that the VVAW was an important propaganda organization helping the communist North Vietnamese in their effort to conquer South Vietnam and its people.

I remember.

Today?

Today I will tell you this. I will tell you that many Vietnam veterans are happy that John Kerry has been appointed Secretary of State of the United States.
