Yuck. I sent out this link yesterday to some of my friends concerning what was tropical storm Sandy. Yikes – another “Perfect Storm” brewing – warm air, cold front, blocking front – just freaking great! So, I went back to the Weather Nerd and picked this up:
Durn, only two of the models have this puppy going eastward out to sea. Time to batten down the hatches – are you ready?
- Generator – check!
- Emergency food – check!
- Gas in cars – check!
- Extra gas (snowblower and tractor)- check!
- Alternative source of cooking tools – check (wood stove, gas grill with extra propane)!
- Alternate source of heat for the house – check (wood stove)!
- Water storage – check!
- Cash – put on the to-do list
- Pick up the yard to prevent obvious “airborne missiles in waiting” – check
- Looters and malfactors of mischeif – check (take your pick – evil smirk or echos of Clint Eastwood – and not the empty chair either (altho that could work given the right situation))
- Fire up snowblower for test – this weekend
- Tree falling through roof (hopefully NOT taking out the wood stove) – Er, no.
Snide remark – if the scientists can’t predict where a single storm will hit, why should we believe them when they say we’re all gonna die from heat (or, if you were listening back in the 70s, that we we’re all gonna die from cold)?
