Happy news that Amanda Merrill is not running again for the New Hampshire Senate. In her stead, former Merrill clone–or perhaps I have that reversed–Martha Fuller “brush” Clark, will run to fill the seat. Merrill and Clarke are both EMILY’s list support alums. They are hewed from the same bit of socialist flotsam, with Clark having the distinction of being in the Senate long enough (previously) to be labeled a Constitutional Threat by the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance. To her credit, or perhaps the NHLA’s, later improvements elevated her to an ‘F,’ a ‘D’ and even a ‘C.’ (Merrill was more of a ‘D’ Student in her comparatively short tenure.)
As for NH Senate District 21, it is home to any number of liberal ghettoes so Clark has a fair shot at keeping a statist tax and spender in the seat. But all things being equal, as part of the continuing democrat minority, her influence will be muted by clearer heads. But Clark has some ideas about that. According to this morning’s union leader…
Fuller Clark, who also served six terms in the House, said she is running to bring back a reasoned voice to the legislative process.
“I was able to work across party lines to pass legislation on many major issues,” she said.
For those unfamiliar, “working across party lines to pass legislation on many major issues,” is lib speak for “I got squishy Republican State Senators to give up their principles to embrace mine.” To a Democrat the only compromise is when you agree with them. I would advise voters to present Ms. Clark with as few potential doppelgangers as possible if they hope to preserve or improve the Live Free or Die character of the state. Giving that seat to a Republican would be even better.
