Pro-Life Leaders to Urge Defunding of Abortion Providers in NH
Former Congresswoman to Testify before NH Senate Health & Human Services Committee
Concord, NH – On Thursday, April 5, 2012 the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) will host a press conference in Concord to call for the passage of HB 228, the Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act of New Hampshire, which will defund abortion providers like Planned Parenthood in the state and prioritize family planning funds to entities that can provide comprehensive health care to women. The “Women Speak Out: Abortion is NOT Health Care” press conference will be cosponsored by Cornerstone Action and New Hampshire Right to Life and led by former Congresswoman and SBA List Vice President of Government Affairs Marilyn Musgrave, who will testify in favor of HB 228 immediately following the event.

“Abortion is not health care and hardworking Americans do not want to be made complicit in the deaths of unborn children through their tax dollars,” said Rep. Marilyn Musgrave. “The New Hampshire state legislature must defund abortion providers immediately and send taxpayer monies to entities that truly serve women’s health.”
Immediately following the press conference at 1:00 PM, Marilyn Musgrave will testify before the New Hampshire Senate Health and Human Services Committee in State House Room 100 in support of HB 228. The bill is based on model legislation developed by the SBA List and the Alliance Defense Fund.
The SBA List has long supported efforts in the “Live Free or Die” state to defund abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. In June 2011, following the cancellation by the New Hampshire Executive Council of a $1.8 million dollar contract with Planned Parenthood, SBA List held a rally in Concord to show support for the Council’s vote, urging them to stay the course despite pressure from Planned Parenthood lobbyists for a re-vote. Over the past year, the SBA List has continually mobilized its activists in New Hampshire to support the Executive Council and the state legislature as they seek to defund abortion providers in the state.
