…then why has the number of self-employed Americans fallen by more than 2 million?
It’s one thing to say you support small business, but Democrats attaching the word jobs, small-business, or main-street to every bill that comes out of congress doesn’t make it happen. But after 2008 every press release about every vote manged to shoe-horn in some BS about how that vote would help put Americans back to work. Really?
“Next week I’m introducing legislation to oppress small businesses into bankruptcy with excessive bureaucracy to help out my crony capitalist campaign donors . We’re calling it the put Main Street Americans back to work at Small Business Jobs Act. This piece of legislation will create or save all the jobs, everywhere, forever.” /whisper “Well. It’ll save my job, or at least guarantee me a nice job after I get tossed out of congress, making five times as much, as a consultant.”
An economic environment tilled for real growth invites the kind of innovative spirit that drives Americans to become self employed, not the other way around. But big government progressivism is geared toward top down corporatism, the union of big government, big labor, and the biggest players in every industry, to their mutual benefit and at the expense of all else. One of the casualties is small business, who cannot afford to compete with the increased cost of doing business under that kind of oppressive regulatory climate.
You can croon all you want about the economy, but as long as the number one employer of Americans is in steady decline, there can be no recovery. And on the Obama Plantation, there is no room to grow a small business.
