Update: on from my line below: we refuse to do anything unless we get all the lemmings lined up at the cliff. Well, it seems that the Occupy folks have decided that you WILL be a lemming, or face the
consequences:
At about 5:09 p.m., the female student was approached by a man at “the northeast exterior of the Haas Pavilion,” according to a UCPD crime alert. The man asked the suspect if she was going to the protest on Sproul Plaza, and when the victim answered “no,” the suspect yelled at her.
“People like you are the reason that California is in debt,” he said, according to the crime alert.
The suspect then threw a full aluminum water bottle at the victim’s face. The victim then called UCPD and refused medical treatment for the bruise on her cheek. UCPD officers responded to the scene and checked the area, but could not locate the suspect.
Moral: Top 1% or bottom 99%, you will join us and you be with us – or we will hurt you (fiscally or financially). This is the Left’s sense of what your version of Freedom should be – what they say it is.
A while ago, I had mentioned that this group existed – a gaggle of mindless millionaires who were demanding of Govt that Govt force them to give more money via taxes:
You know how I can tell this is a Progressive idea, vs just "Patriotic Millionaires"? First, just look at some of the names on their list…Not exactly rock-ribbed conservatives in this bunch, eh? Also, the tactics:
- A collective mentality with an insistence that ALL pay – not just the willing. As Chris over at RightWingNews put it in playing at being a liberal: "Why should I pay more unless they force me to pay more?". They simply wish to achieve the Progressive ideal of the top paying the entire freight for society’s bill of Government.
- No indication that the other side of the equation, spending, be addressed.
- An unwillingness to "just do it" and send a check if they really felt this strongly about "be Patriotic – send money!".
And the most stunning part – who was doing the organizing of these folks: "The Patriotic Millionaires campaign", pulled together quickly by the Agenda Project in New York City,". Once again, we meet up with Erica Payne (who said "This is not an orchestrated campaign").
Well, the latest stop on the Millionair Bullion train was DC where a couple dozen of these erstwhile do-gooders descended on Congresscritters to demand "please sirs, make us poorer!". And, oh by the way (not wishing to forget the influence of Progressive Erica Payne, everyone else too:
WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) — A group of two dozen millionaires stormed Capitol Hill on Wednesday, demanding lawmakers raise their taxes.
"We want to pay more taxes," said California millionaire Doug Edwards, a former marketing director for Google (GOOG, Fortune 500). "If you’re fortunate, and you make more than a million dollars a year, you ought to pay more taxes."…"If the super committee bill doesn’t raise our taxes, we will ask our fellow citizens to consider killing the bill," said Eric Schoenberg of Franklin Lakes, N.J., an adjunct professor of marketing at Columbia Business School.
Not a word about huge boost in spending that Obama has forced upon the nation, nary a syllable concerning crony capitalism (heh! they are part of the Evil 1%, right?), nor about the runaway cost of the entitlement society that is driving the debt. So this clip by the Daily call is just so much fun to watch as it shows the lockstep political mindset when given the chance to voluntarily do what they are demanding – folks giving more money to the Feds!
This shows the collective mentality – we refuse to do anything unless we get all the lemmings lined up at the cliff. Even if they have succeeded economically as individuals to reach their vaunted 1%, their political leanings show an unwillingness to do other than "no, after YOU!" outlook. What shows is the unwillingness to use their freedom to show the courage of their convictions and the absolute willingness to take further economic freedom from their fellow citizens without remorse.
As I have said before, being Patriotic is loving your country and doing the best you can by her. Patriotism is NOT simply following the law and paying your legal taxes. Once again, we see the Left trying to redefine our common language simply for their regressive ideology.
