Fred "Who?" Karger will remain "who?". I’m not going to link up the post (just the site) as it requires registration. However, one only has to look at the Concord Monitor’s front page widget to get all the information you need to know
Karger: I’m not going anywhere
Fred Karger says he relates more to Occupy Wall Street than to the Tea Party. He supports same-sex marriage and abortion rights. He voted in the last two presidential elections for Ralph Nader.
That’s right, Fred, you are not going anywhere, especially in the Primary. While there are folks that are running and who have little chance to winning, placing, or even showing, they all have at least a modicum of serious reasons why they are running and are convinced, given our political process, why they need to run (like Vern Wuensche and Christopher V. Hill, both of whom I have interviewed several times here on the ‘Grok and personally like them both).
IMHO, that does not included Fred.
In essence, his major claim to fame in this race is that he is gay. Big deal. To me, who is more impressed on stances on issues, this is of no importance. When he opens his stump speeches (or soon thereafter) with "I am the first openly gay candidate for President", the reaction is:
- Don’t tell me what you do in the privacy of your home.
- Yawn.
That’s not a political issue. Sure, it may matter to some, but not to me (as a conservative). Instead, look at the four factoids listed by the Monitor, and one really has to scratch their head (his claim to have been a Reagan supporter aside) and ask:
Isn’t he running in the wrong party’s primary?
Really – does he really think those are going to resonate with the Republican base? Does he think he can "out Huntsman" in reaching out to the Independents to get them to cross over?
