Yup, I am one of those that takes some time off only to worry about what kind of messes I’m going to face when I return. This chart has it pretty well right:

And I have to admit, back in the early 80’s I took 10 days off for a second honeymoon with TMEW and had a delightful time.  Problem was, I had planned to return to the office on that second week’s Friday – whereupon I found out that my entire group of 300 software gurus had been "surplused" by DEC.  So, I have a reason to be a bit tentative about vacations – I’ve been bit (I also have been laid off and hired on both my birthday and anniversary).

The WORST is the absolute amount of email stacked up – and almost ALL of it is not spam.
