Good for the House Republicans that just passed the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act in trying to stop the fiscal train wreck that has been slo-mo rolling for decades. Frankly, I view it as a first baby step but the largest problem is this – does it actually stop the deficit spending NOW? Does it actually pull us back from the brink, as S&P has just warned that if a REAL $4 Trillion cut is not readied in three months, our credit rating will start falling.
And yet, even with this, President Obama has already said he would veto it if it passed the Senate. Yet, with the Democrats in charge there, its like Obama is pushing the throttle to the firewall with all the Reid and his Posse of Progressives shoveling coal into the firebox as fast as they can.
What is is about spending caps that Liberals / Progressives hate so much? One would think that if they are "for the little guy", the Average Joe that works hard, takes care of their families, helps out in their local community, pays his taxes (yes, pays his taxes) that they’d want to help that little guy out. In this time of hard economic times, wouldn’t they want to help mitigate the tax load on them?
Wouldn’t they welcome a spending cap so as to not let Government gouge that little guy with tax bills on steroids?
Several cities (via their City Charters) here in NH passed tax caps to protect their citizens from the elected politicians that promised to be frugal and then have voted for every spending idea and never slicing a budget (got exactly one of those types on my Budget Committee). Yet, several were fought with the best example of Goffstown transplant from Colorado resident and uber-Progressive and Community Organizer Zandra Rice-Hawkins fighting hard to not protect the vast majority of citizens in Manchester from higher taxes.
Which shows how Progressives view most citizens – merely walking ATM machines. All one has to do is read Steve’s expose of the "non-partisan" taxaholic partisans of the GSFTC for the proof as they are just DYING to enact broadbased taxes.

At least the NH Republicans, both the NH House and the NH Senate with their valuing of the ordinary taxpayer, passed the ability for local citizens to protect themselves against their fellow TaxNSpenders from hoovering their families’ incomes via passing Senate Bill 2 that establishes the right of citizens to enact Spending and Tax Caps.
Well done to Congressmen Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass on standing up and doing the right thing even in the face of a veto by TaxNSpender-in-Chief Obama.
