Even as the Presidential follies going on, the Governor race is going to give us some watercooler talk

Well, with this website popping up to prop up a movement for Cornerstone’s Kevin Smith to run for NH Governor, it is clear that this will be a rather interesting times now.  NH Senator Jeb Bradley, Ovide Lamontagne, John Stephen, and Kevin Smith – two rather Conservative maybe’s, one a bit less Conservative, and one who seemingly has veered moderate (and grabbing the attention of a lot of the Conservative base and not exactly for the best of reasons).

Any, in my outlook, would provide a much stronger sense of leadership than the current seat warmer, Democrat Gov. John "Can’t Do Much" Lynch.  It isn’t just because most of the Republicans who now control the House, Senate, and Exec. Council are Republicans and thus, he has been frozen out as his fellow Democrats were tossed from the levers of power by voters as they showed their displeasure toward the Progressive turn in the State.  No, it is because Lynch was already showing Obama how to lead from behind before it became Obama’s guiding mantra – given his long tenure, how often has Lynch actually been in front of important issues?  Relatively few….a sad state of affairs.  Pretty much, all these guys have much stronger held principles and are not afraid to keep them out front.  I think that the chance to see a "this is where I stand" Gov will be much stronger than the political mumbling we get from the present Gov.

Both Jeb and Kevin have records that can be examined – one based on years of elected office and one based on advocacy during the last few years of turbulent politics.  Which will attract which constituency and which constituency will be will to go hot on which record?  Ovide’s record is one based on campaigning and known – same with John. I think that the names are fairly well known – Jeb from a long history of elected office, Ovide and John from state wide campaigning, and Kevin from his active membership as well as appearances on TV and radio with sound bites and interviews on this issues.

Sure, a bit of a superfical overgloss here, but hey, we’ve got plenty of time!  And I won’t be surprised if more names get floated up either as it seems that there will be no shortage of sharks willing to take a bite out of Lynch.

Retail politics – won’t this be fun!
