On the heels of NH State Senator Gary Lambert trying to redefine "incentive",
Sidenote: Why is it that our elected officials are utterly convinced they should be able to have us change our behavior simply because "it is good for you" or that it fits "the common good"?
we now have the Unions trying to redefine the phrase "middle class" as being "union", that the middle class cannot exist without Unions? This is just so preposterous and amusing, especially since union members ONLY make up 6.7% of the private sector workers. Since when does that percentage engulf the entirety of the middle class? And certainly the union bosses, with their salaries and perks, are well beyond the middle class and actually, are part of the Obama deemed "wicked rich" (ok, both words fit?).
In the May 5th edition of the Laconia Daily Sun (page 8)was this ad paid for by the NH SEA:
To put it another way, they are now putting up the PR stunt that unions and "the middle class" are one in the same.
First off, I’m not grooving to the idea that Diane Lacey, the NH SEIU / SEA President, has signed off on this ad. Sorry, but I’m not liking the idea of trying to take one of the most popular if American icons, the US Military (especially the the Marine Corps) and trying to marry that to the politics of public sector unions (even as I say "Thank you, Mr. Wright, for your service"). Dumb move to try to politicize that organization.
I’m also not thrilled with their lame attempt of appearing to be above the fray with "It’s time for our leaders to put political agendas aside". REALLY? You expect us to believe that? Why, then, did you not:
- Complain when the SEIU pour 10s of millions of $$ into the last Presidential race? No political agenda?
- Complain when the Evergreen Clause was enacted (putting the real middle class taxpayers behind the financial Eight ball?)? No political agenda?
- Advocating for Obamacare for all, yet running for waivers from it when your costs stared you in the face. No political agenda?
- All in favor of the national DISCLOSE act, and HassanSpeech’s mini-Disclose act written by Kathy Sullivan here in NH? No political agenda?
I would easily say these have political agendas, don’t you, Ms. Lacey? Oh yes, there’s certainly more for examples if desired.
This is nothing more than a coarse attempt – the SEIU is amongst the MOST PARTISAN of organizations (and with many of its local union hierarchies so tied into socialist and communist organizations, about as Left as one can get). After all, with Big Labor all but absconding the NLRB (doing away with private ballot? That’s not partisan??), there are partisan movements afoot and the NH SEIU is well established in it.
