The Democrats SAY that they are all about jobs…but!

All this cycle, I’ve heard the half-hearted, half-witted bleatings of Democrats saying that they are all about jobs – the jobs is Job 1.  Problem is, both here in Concord and in DC, their past actions call out their brayings now.

Central to this "call-out"?  Their penchant and absolute devotion that "Government knows best".  Just as we may well be at a tipping point concerning our national debt, are we starting to reach an analogous tipping point concerning job creation?

The adage is true: "The more you tax something, the less of it you will get".  It is just simple behavioral reaction – if you make something more expensive, demand goes down.  Make something harder to accomplish, minimize the laurels of success, and people will stay put – like this:

Nationwide, government at every level is requiring more and more of the workforce to get its permission just to earn a living.

In the 1950s, only about 5 percent of the workforce needed a government license to do their job. Today, that number is over 30 percent.  And governments impose all kinds of other requirements that make it hard for would-be entrepreneurs to start and grow small businesses.

You all have heard about the TEA Party and 9/12ers talk about Freedom and Tyranny – this is tyranny by a thousand reams of paper.  The national call is for more jobs – can we depend on local government, state government, and federal government to reduce the shackles placed on would be entrepreneurs?

They will – but only if we demand it.  We are a nation of go-getters; why do we let Government get in the way under the guise of "protecting us"? Sure, there will be those that will argue that this is the call and duty of government.  The problem is, going back to First Principle, that of freedom, which is also summed up by the word "choice".  Ask yourself – do we have the Freedom that we say we do if Government, more and more, makes it harder and harder to actually make that choice.

Or is it simply the case of more cases of "wet my beak" at all levels of governance….
