"It’s all about you, Niel"
– Larry Frates, Laconia resident
True words, indeed. All the time. OK, folks, this is, as legendary Boston Democrat pol Tip O’Neil (former Speaker of the US House) would have said, REAL local NH politics, specifically to Belknap County. Niel Young, the Rigor Mortis Conservative, shows once again that he is uppermost in his own mind (as he was here). In the 9/23 version of the Weirs Times (p 11):
Suggestion: take a close look at the incumbent Sen. Deb Reynolds-D and the challenger Jeanie Forrester-R. Who can answer your questions and can explain Legislation?
In Senate District 4 Primary where another friend George F. Hurt lost out to a candidate (Jim Forsythe) who I still have many reservations about
He often exclaims that he neither forgives nor forgets and time has shown that if you cross him (which can be merely for disagreeing with him or doing something that he has said to not do), you become personna non-grata (as two long term guests on his radio show have just found out – hey guys, there’s always GrokTALK!).
In the above two NH Senate races, "his" experienced candidates lost – big time to first time candidates…and his ire shows broadly by casting aspersions against these two winners in the Republican primaries SIMPLY because they weren’t "his" candidates as seen by the above innuendos. Too cute by 1/2, Neil – and about as transparent as an inch of corrugated paper in a rain storm (and about as solid). He just can’t let go and the grudge will be held for quite some time for simply beating his candidates.
And then this:
– and the endorsements from state senators in other districts endorsing him. Why are they so anxious to pick a fight with me by sticking their noses into the district where I vote? That would be Jeb Bradley and David Boutin – what gives, guys? Do you have a secret pact?
Immediate thoughts: peevish and parochial to the max. Like Larry said, it’s always about you, eh Niel?
Here’s what really brings the chuckles – does he really think that Jeb and Mr. Boutin really care about what he thinks? Or probably more likely, is he upset that perhaps they think him of so little consequence such that they don’t care what he thinks? So, in addition to being peevish and parochial, can we now add paranoid as well?
Here’s the real deal – when someone has good ideas, location matters not a whit – and Jeb and Dave know it. They know, recognize, and wish to promote someone that they feel to be the best for the position – that is picking a fight? For that, they have to ask for permission from a Niel Young? Egads…talk about self-importance….
For the record, GraniteGrok endorsed both Jeanie and Jim, and are happy that they won their primaries. Also for the record, the "Grok also endorsed Jack Kimball, who lost to "Niel’s" candidate, John Stephen.
Methinks that Niel could learn a valuable lesson from Jack, who immediately turned around and endorsed John and is now actively campaigning for him (as he promised to do if John won. He has also asked all of his supporters to now support John). In fact, at Saturday’s NH GOP Convention, Jack received a loud standing ovation for doing just that (as well, in no small part, from appreciative supporters of Jack for his efforts).
