Given Jeanne Shaheen’s sordid past relationship with a financial institution that she granted special favors and pulled strings for while governor, why on Earth would we send her to Washington, DC given the current environment? Would she do for the big banks and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac like she did for Providian— whose subsequent owner Washington Mutual (WAMU)– a name that should be familiar to many readers as a player knee deep in the PRESENT mess? Will Gov. Shaheen reach out and help her old banking industry pals should she become Senator? Is that a chance we should take?
