Our friends at Granite Staters for Employee Freedom (GSEF) — a group seeking to educate people on the dangers of passing the so-call "card check" legislation, the deceptively-named Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) doing away with secret ballot voting on the question whether or not to unionize– have discovered a few interesting facts as they go about their work.
First, as evidenced in this video, some of the more blatantly activist union members, among the most enthusiastic supporters of Jeanne Shaheen– who favors EFCA– clearly misunderstand the implications of what the law will do. When confronted and questioned about the ability to vote in secret versus in view of everybody, the union guys apparently still favor some option of secrecy. Don’t they understand, their candidate will take this right away?
Oh, and what about "green" Shaheen? Is she, or is she NOT opposed to needless consumption of fuel? How many times are we gonna see that antique Teamsters truck and other big rigs as backdrops to her events? Is hauling campaign signage and political propagnda not worth doing in a more fuel- efficient way?
Not to be outdone in the love of central casting-like union thugs, what about these guys the GSEF folks encountered at a Shea-Porter event in Manchester. Like time-travellers propelled forward from the 1930’s, these Shea Porter supporters also seem a bit confused about card check and its implications, but in the end don’t let that bother them or separate them from their automaton-like adherence to their candidate. Forgetting it’s a new age– an age of digital cameras, Youtube, and blogs–these fine representatives from NALC and AFL-CIO proceed to state on camera what they would see done to those who disagree with their way of seeing things:
Dump ’em in da river!
Are these the kinds of people we want heavily influencing our congressperson down in Washington? How about that classy guy that put his finger in the lens of the video camera? Impressive, ain’t he? Hey Carol, did you drink cider with these guys too? Probably not the "hot" kind, but the "hard" kind, eh? What happens when politicians owned lock stock and barrel by the unions like Shaheen and Shea Porter fail to toe the line? Do they end up "sleepin’ wit da fishes?" Nah, probably not. After all, there’s no chance either of these two would ever do that… deviate from the union desires, that is.
