Government Induced Drought

Policies started by Moonbeam Jerry Brown and enforced by environmental allies since the ’70s have born fruit, more foreign fruit, less California fruit, and general misery for the left coasters.

New Hampshire “Budget Cuts”

This needs some work, but I think you get the point.  The budget is growing, not shrinking.  We are spending more. Spending “less” more is NOT a budget cut.

NH Democrat Rep Mel Myler is “Tired of Hearing From His Constituents”

Rep Mel Myler
House Rep Mel Myler

Ann Marie Banfield | c/o Facebook

During the House Education Committee hearing today, Rep. Myler representing Merrimack District 10, rebuked the large number of parents who e-mailed him in support of SB101 saying he’s sick of hearing from the people who are e-mailing him. (Video on the jump)

Isn’t it the duty of our elected Representatives serving on these committees to consider all testimony and even when there is disagreement, encourage individuals to speak up? Doesn’t this kind of rant discourage people from weighing in on important legislation?

Shouldn’t NH Move the RGGI Money to the Road Repair Budget?

Back on Feb 17 I made what I thought was a very sensible suggestion. If Global warming still causes increased snowfall… …seems to me the tens of millions in RGGI emissions reduction plunder we get annually would be  better spent offsetting the cost of snow removal. I don’t think they listened, but I have another, … Read more

Christina Freundlich – Self Centered Selfie Snapper

selfies30n-3-webJust when you think you have seen the lowest form of selfie-mania there comes a snapping sound from New York City and the horrible fire they had last week. Some of America ’s young, smart set were caught taking selfies of themselves celebrating the demise of other people’s homes.

Oh, the locals were some happy with the smiling faces in front of the burning buildings posted on socialist media. The New York Post put some of the selfie takers up for ridicule on their own pages.

And then I heard the name of one of the self absorbed disaster posers. It was Christina Freundlich of the Iowa Democrat Party.

That name rings a bell.

Shouldn’t Progressives Oppose Abstinence Only Gun Education?

Thinking_ManJust a few passing thoughts, not all of them mine.

The Democrats and Progressives–because not all progressives are Democrats–tell us that there is no way the government could locate and round up 12 million illegal aliens but are more than happy to presume that if they passed a law they could locate and round up 350 million firearms.

c/o Charles C.W. Cooke (The Conservatarian Manifesto) “Nowadays students are suspended from school for making pistol shapes with their fingers or for simply saying ‘Bang!” in the schoolyard.  Progressives widely mock “abstinence only” sex education on the eminently reasonable grounds that sex is a fact of life and that children should therefore be taught about it.  Why should abstinence-only gun education be immune from their derision?”

So – Who Voted For A NH Sales Tax?

taxOn March 11th, HB 673 made it’s way to the floor of the New Hampshire House.  The legislation has one sponsor, Rep Gilman Shattuck, (D-Hillsborough 1).

It would impose a sales tax, a use tax, most certainly require DRA to expand at taxpayer cost to manage it all, and add costs to business owners who would be required to keep records of everything for which they are required to collect or pay taxes.

HB 673

…imposes a 2.25 percent retail sales tax. The bill also imposes a 2.25 percent use tax on the use or storage of property in New Hampshire when no sales tax has been paid. Use tax is imposed, for example, when a New Hampshire business buys property out of state tax-free and uses it in New Hampshire. It also applies when a business makes personal use of property that it has purchased for resale or has manufactured for sale.

HB 357 Amendment And the Jasper Gas Tax – Just Died in the NH House

NH Gas tax payerThe good news of the day is that the scheme to amend HB 357 into the NH DOT budget plus gas-tax-increase has failed.  The full House rejected the amendments 365-3.

Spec Bowers c/o Facebook

The vote was closer than expected: 3 in favor, 365 opposed. BTW, Kurk spoke against his own bill. The gas tax amendment was not even brought to the floor.

To clarify, there was a Finance committee amendment to make drastic cuts to the DOT, and a second amendment to raise the gas tax to undo their proposed cuts. The drastic cuts were rejected, the gas tax amendment was withdrawn.
