GrokTALK! Legislative Round Up

Max walks us through some legislation, including Poker, a bill to control abuses by child and family services, who voted for a 2.25% state sales tax, the Judiciary committee bailing on oversight over the judicial system, a tax on marriage to fund a domestic violence program, and the rhetoric on cutting expansions to the budget. … Read more

GrokTALK! with Dr. Betsy McCaughey

ObamaCare expert and health Care advocate Dr. Betsy McCaughey joins us to talk about King v Burwell, the courts real role, subsidies, Health Care Coverage–and the Republican off-ramp from ObamaCare, post Obama-Care America, EPA, USDA, and other regulatory intrusions, and then the upcoming First in the Nation Summit here in New Hampshire.

Laurie Sanborn Wouldn’t Toe Jaspers Line – Gets the Boot

This isn’t new or unusual but given the tolerance promised in the age of the Jaspercrats–which is to say none: Republican Majority leadership less tolerant of Republicans than Democrat Majority leadership ever was– this seems appropriate. Rep. Laurie Sanborn was removed this morning from the House Finance Committee for her refusal to support the leadership's … Read more

NH Family Budget Woes

This letter is addressed to the Republicans who plan to sponsor a budget amendment that will increase the NH State Gasoline Tax by 8 cents, paying for a DOT budget shortfall. It is also addressed to any Republican who votes for such an amendment.

We read over the weekend that you are sponsoring an effort (without public input) to increase the gas tax by another 8 cents, after it was just raised 4 cents.

I find it hard to believe that we have no other means, no other government waste or abuse, to fill this budget shortfall.

Raising the gas tax (and please do not call it a “user fee” or “toll”), yet again, is a hit on consumers, who are seeing their healthcare, housing, energy, food, and phone costs rise every month, while the Federal Government continues to devalue our dollar. Most consumers cannot absorb a hike such as this.

John Oliver – Civil Asset Forfeiture

John Oliver makes the absurd funny so it is worth the watch, but as you watch remember that in NH the police are on the record (in committee testimony) claiming both that they don’t do THIS, and that if the legislature stopped them from doing what they say they are “not doing” they would lose … Read more

Another UNH Foreign Language Department Scandal

New unh-logo_emblemLast time it was the German Professor, this time it is the Spanish and the French.

In December of 2012, (UNH Associate Spanish Language Professes Marco) Dorfsman altered the student evaluations of his colleague, French lecturer Emilie Taplin, by lowering her student evaluation scores. Court documents state that Dorfsman changed the average scores for every class Taplin taught that semester, as well as her overall average awarded by students. The tampering made it appear that her performance fell below acceptable limits for her department, court documents state.

Long story short, Dorfsman’s alterations could have prevented her contract renewal–so he was trying to get her fired.

Mammoth Methane

Well, it’s just another nail in the coffin for the Warmunists when Patrick Moore, co-founder of mega-NGO Greenpeace, comes in from shoveling his driveway and becomes a Global Warming denier. “I am skeptical humans are the main cause of climate change and that it will be catastrophic in the near future. There is no scientific proof of … Read more

Feds Tie Education Funding To Arming Teachers

FEMA LogoMy apologies for the click-bait headline but imagine, if you will…

Starting next year, the Department of Education will only approve education funds to states whose governors approve concealed carry and firearms training for teachers and administrators in public schools.

Keep in mind that there is a constitutional basis for armed self-defense and no constitutional basis for Federal Education funding.

The real copy goes like this.

Gonads and Melanin

Petrarch - City Journal
Petrarch

It’s not about classic literature anymore.  It’s not even something as obtuse as ‘English’ or that unctuous term (as in slippery) ‘Language Arts.’  It’s about gonads and melanin.

“…the UCLA English department—like so many others—is more concerned that its students encounter race, gender, and disability studies than that they plunge headlong into the overflowing riches of actual English literature—whether Milton, Wordsworth, Thackeray, George Eliot, or dozens of other great artists closer to our own day. How is this possible?
