Sleepless in Seattle?

Income trigger warning. A certain class of nearly-doing-well-enoughs are concerned that recent wage justice victories in Seattle will trigger income thresholds in a variety of government subsidies that will result in those free-rides being discontinued. Hassan’s Budget Con-promise.

Governor Hassan opposed a reduction in New Hampshire business taxes. No tax cuts for those big out-of-state companies, she said. That’s not fair. I won’t sign that budget. She did not. Thursday she, and a gaggle of Democrats, went public with an alternative. In exchange for the proposed reduction in business taxes from the legislature’s … Read more

Residents File 91a Suit Against the Brentwood Board of Selectman

map_of_brentwood_nhJames Berlo and James Johnson have filed a suit in Rockinham County Superior Court.

The suit outlines the complaint but I’ll paraphrase. Somehow the SAU 16 superintendent obtained a copy of a letter to be published in a taxpayer funded newsletter prior to the newsletter being published. Plaintiffs requested documents (emails) sent to the superintendent that included their letter. The newsletter committee did not respond to 91a requests, nor did the select board, which has oversight over that committee.

The Select board maintains that the Newsletter committee is not subject to 91a. The court will get to decide.

A copy of the filing is included here.

Donor State

New Hampshire is a donor state. Ask anyone in the political class and they will tell you. New Hampshire pays more in federal taxes than it gets back. These same ‘experts’ are the ones convinced that Medicaid Expansion is a great deal. The Feds will pick up the tab at 100% for the states that sign … Read more

What WOULD It Take To Get Chris Sununu to Stop Taxpayer Funding of Planned Parenthood?

img-Political-Scoop-Interview-with-Chris-Sununu
Image: WMUR- Political Scoop

Executive Councilor Chris Sununu has voted to fund Planned Parenthood in the past so it is not unreasonable to think he’d do so in the future.  That is until recent revelations about strategic organ farming by its abortion doctors became common knowledge. That sort of thing might cause you to have a change of heart, (or liver, or lung).

Even the most mealy-mouthed, pandering politician with any lineage on the Political Right would be wise to think twice about backing this sort of commerce out of hand. But would they back it, hand out, with money from the pockets of taxpayers?
