And so it begins……….a thought

Cowering Woman

Remember, Progressives hate women defending themselves.  Why?  Well, Susan just posted another case of “what as bad when Republicans did it, but fine when Democrats do it” – their faux cries of “settled law” (here and here).  Here we see the regressive nature of Democrats in trying to reverse the Natural Right to defend yourself.  No longer will it be lawful to defend your home (“castle”) or yourself where ever you happen to be – even if you do not “consent” to give your Right to the State in this regard.

This case illustrates wonderfully, beautifully is the difference:

Conservatives:

You have the Natural Right (and responsibility) to defend yourself.  The State should not force you to outsource that to itself.  Remember, the lives of you and your family, loved ones, and friends might depend on it.  Gun Control: firm grip, get the correct sight picture, and keep the muzzle pointed at the evil ones.  Carry on.

Progressives:

Heh! Just remember, NY residents – we have no income or sales taxes here. We still like guns, too

the MinuteMen would have make “the swishing sound heard ’round the world” with the swords they would have been left with in NY”

Well, at least while we can still beat off the attacks of the transplanted Progressives now here in NH who hate people keeping their own money (that’s cheating Government, dontcha know!) and think guns are alive and evil.

SideNote: once again, I note that Progressives seemingly hardwired to NOT leave other people alone.  Conservatives: I just want to be a Conservative – just leave me be and I will leave you alone as well.  Stop trying to either convert me or absorb me into your Borg unilaterally.  You wanna be a Progressive? Great and good for you – go over there where the other Progressives are; we don’t want you and we don’t like your regressive policies enforced upon us.  Progressives: I want to be a Progressive – and that means where ever I go, you all have to be Progressives with me – and LIKE IT. I just don’t understand why you Conservatives so dislike us so – all we want to do is make life EASY for you by making all the decisions for you (that you used to do for yourself).  What, don’t you like the Utopia I am trying to put you into??

New York Times (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who spent his first two years in office establishing himself as a fiscal conservative, turned left in his third annual address to the Legislature, and sought to reclaim the state’s progressive mantle.  Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, had two emotional fulcrums in his sprawling 78-minute address: gun violence and Hurricane Sandy. But most of the speech was devoted to an onslaught of proposals favored by the left wing of his party.

Yup, I think Cuomo so dismayed the base that, given his half way point, time to go full Progressive.  After all, without them, he isn’t getting back in.  Sure, NY is a Progressive bastion, but hey, he was showing so much “practicality”, he could have almost a moderate Repub.  But, here he goes!

I am not your subject…I am not your servant…I am not your peasant.

Boston’s letter, titled “No ma’am,” was first posted on CNN’s iReport on Dec. 27 and quickly made the rounds on social media as he responded to all of the items that are known about US Senator Diane Feinstein’s gun grabbing legislation (for nothing says ‘gun grabber’ like legislation that requires fingerprints, a humungous new Federal database, and mandated confiscation of your guns upon your death)..

“I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America,” the eight-year Marine Corps veteran wrote.

He gets right to the heart of the matter – a point that most Politicians never ask as they write scads and scads of new legislation – does this conform to the basic philosophy of how this country was formed?  Does this met the ideas embodied in the Constitution – are you limiting yourself with your new bill to stay within a limited government framework?  At what point is enough, well, enough?  The Declaration says that government is created to secure the Rights that predate government – yet we now see, via Progressive policies written by Progressives (remember: Progressivism is merely Socialism implemented slowly) slowly whittling those Rights away (like the First Amendment’s Right to the freedom of religious expression, which Obama is single handedly re-writing as ‘freedom of worship).  Is this a function that is aligned with a limited stricture of the Proper Role of Government?

“I am not your subject” – Senator Blumenthal’s ammo bill is moving to change that sentence.

“There is no rational reason why a person can walk into a store, fill their shopping cart with hundreds of rounds of ammo, pay up, and walk out without so much as giving their name.”

The Hill is reporting on

[US] Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) introduced legislation on Tuesday that would require background checks for buying gun ammunition

It’s currently illegal to sell ammunition to fugitives, felons and people suffering from mental disorders. However, while background checks are required for selling firearms, they are not required for selling ammunition. Blumenthal’s legislation would require background checks for selling ammunition as well.
“Ammunition sales should be subject to the same legal requirements as firearm sales — instant background checks using the FBI’s national database,” Blumenthal said in a statement. “There is no rational reason why a person can walk into a store, fill their shopping cart with hundreds of rounds of ammo, pay up, and walk out without so much as giving their name.
Yeah, like we all know that ammo without a gun can still hurt when it is thrown at you by a burglar.  Imagine the arm the would be gunless-but-deranged killer-to-be must have to cause such mayhem!  Government micromanaging the personal private lives (oops, scratch that- Progressives want Government in EVERY aspect of your lives!) – yo, Blumenthal: while you’re regulating the crap out of my sugar intake, my salt intake, my ammo usage?  You gonna finally do what YOU chuckleheads are supposed to be doing – like passing a budget for the first time in 4 years?  How’s that National Debt thingie doing?  Fix that yet?  How ’bout you take care of the major messes you’ve created FIRST?

The legislation also makes it mandatory for sellers to keep records on selling ammunition.

In an interview with The Hill, Blumenthal said the idea for the bill came from discussing with law enforcement personnel ways to deter gun violence. Blumenthal said authorities should be notified when somebody buys a large amount of ammunition.

“We should know,” Blumenthal said. “Somebody who buys that much ammunition is maybe someone whom we should give some attention.”

Somehow, most of us DO think the Feds have a spending problem, Mr. Obama!

“What stunned House Speaker John Boehner more than anything else during his prolonged closed-door budget negotiations with Barack Obama was this revelation: “At one point several weeks ago,” Mr. Boehner says, “the president said to me, ‘We don’t have a spending problem.’” …Under this scenario, federal spending would average 23% of GDP over the next … Read more

More and more, are Progressives pushing for a different kind of “Cliff”? Careful what you fear monger…

I put this post up yesterday (“I really hope that Kelly Ayotte, BFF with John McCain, is not playing this game”) after seeing what Captain’s Quarters had posted about a possible end run around the US Senate rules as they stand right now – but it would lend itself to passing all kinds of mischief to Liberty and Freedom without the “Senate governor” known as the Filibuster.  But there was more to that post along the lines of what a number of us are seeing around the blogosphere – that other folks are getting extremely uneasy about the ramifications of the Left driving the culture.  Always pushing, pushing, pushing, and pushing in changing American life to new norms – to secular Progressive (and Socialist) values.  In essence, the slippery slope is getting tilted more and more with buckets of glycerine thrown onto it.

Many Conservative folks (and lately, just ordinary non-political folks) are really starting to feel put upon by the constant din of “change your values – to what we say they should be” via the mainstream media, the culture makers of tv, movies, and music, and politics in loud, soft, and discrete ways and manners.  However, it seems that the Progressives / gun-grabbers are switching gears and have now moved to going full out on what many see as inner core of American Freedom – wrapped in the ideas of the Right to self-defense, Citizen sovereignty and primacy over the State as people start examining and studying primary documents of our founding, and the proper role of Government……and feeling that Government, at the behest of Progressives, is far overstepping its bounds.  It’s called the Second Amendment

Instead of the inanely stupid euphemisms of “gun control” or “gun violence” or “gun safety” or any other focus grouped “non-confrontation phrases”, many are seeing themselves sanctioned for gun removal and confiscation – and left defenseless not just before criminals but a tyrannical government (which, by this action, is starting to show itself to be exactly that).  They feel they are being made into, not victims, but pariahs on the scale of sex offenders (except Progressives can forgive the latter and make excuses for them).  If these potential gun grabber bills become law, gun owners see this as Government reaching into their homes and lives to punish them for actions they have not committed.  In actuality, many on the Left have actively called for their deaths, to be thrown in jail, and to be marked for life simply for not wanting to give up things that are perfectly legal to own – to be treated as dangerous criminals.

I’ve been hearing cries for “compromise” from the usual gun control proponents. Funny, but in a real compromise, both sides give something up. What CURRENT gun control laws are they prepared to repeal in return any new laws they’d like to enact? None, of course. Which is why the call for compromise is a cynical … Read more

Has a REVOLVER. Shoots Intruder 5 times. Hits six times. He’s still moving. Know what the problem was?

Revolvers are what the gun grabbers wish to reduce us to – if even that.”

While the weak-kneed gun grabbers are all thinking that eliminating guns is the answer comes this story that should make themselves grovel in front of this lady; from Loganville, GA:

A woman hiding in her attic with children shot an intruder multiple times before fleeing to safety Friday.

The incident happened at a home on Henderson Ridge Lane in Loganville around 1 p.m. The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke in using a crowbar.

But the man eventually found the family.

More has come out since then – she was in a closet with her kids in the attic and was on the phone with her husband when Mr. Scumbag broke in (her husband was the one that called 911).  Just like those teachers in Sandy Hook (and yes, since the Progressives decided to “not let a tragedy go waste” and make it political, I am perfectly fine in “returning fire”).  Just like Adam Lanza, this scumbag man forcibly broke.  No, he wasn’t there merely to burgle the place – if so, he would have been in and out without looking for a conflict.  No, his purpose was to hunt her and her kids down.  Evil personified.  A man against a woman and two little girls – as the Libs say, as the FEMINISTS say, a power inequality existed.  The three females were about to be toast, just like those first graders.  Yet, Progressives believe in their heart of hearts (and tops of their craniums) that they can “perfect” even an evil scumbag of a man.

Oh wait!

If Corey Booker were in NY, I betcha he’d get lots of takers! And GET taken, too!

The Blaze is reporting another gun buy back program (reformated, emphasis mine):

Newark, N.J., mayor and rising Democrat star Cory Booker has a plan to curb gun violence in his city: Offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to the seizure of illegally owned firearms.  No, really: The city has set up an anonymous hotline and everything…“So we have a program in our city right now that’s completely anonymous and we will give you cash,” he continues, “$1,000 to anyone who calls our anonymous tip line. Give us the information about who is carrying a gun and we don’t even have to have a conviction. We arrest that individual and simply get that gun off the streets.”

This has got fraud and hassles written all over it.  I can see it now “That dirtbag that screwed me over last year?  He’s about to get his and I get paid for his troubles”!  Yeah, I’m betting that a lot of are going to simply get arrested and their property confiscated on an anonymous tip (nothing mentioned about combating this kind of mischief).  The comment that will take the City of Newark to the cleaners (and no, not those related to “mistake lawsuits”):

Very good Right side political advice from two great bloggers

Any time that an Establishment rumpswab starts in on you about TEA Party candidates, remember the words of Prof. Jacobson:

If we had followed the establishment advice, we would not have Ted Cruz in office

Ted Cruz was the insurgent Tea Party – supported candidate running against the more establishment David Dewhurst.

If we followed the establishment advice to keep the seat safe, we would not have this rising star in office. The same is true for Marco Rubio and other next-generation Republican leaders.

While there were other races where it didn’t turn out as hoped, Ted Cruz demonstrates the importance of primaries

And remember, there were a number of Establishment Senate candidates that got whupped as well (example: WI’s Tommy Thompson – a “shoo-in” they said!).  Go to the link as it has a video of Ted Cruz talking about “Opportunity Conservatisim”.

And then this from Glen Reynolds, the blogfadda!

My advice to Tea Partiers: Take over your state GOP.
