Domicile and intent – which the Democrat Party has turned into “drive-by living” and “you can’t know what’s in my head” constructions to violate the integrity of true NH voters simply for partisan purposes.  NH Law:

“An inhabitant’s domicile for voting purposes is that one place where a person, more than any other place, as established a physical presence, and manifests an intent to maintain a single continuous presence for domestic, social, and civil purposes relevant to participating in democratic self government.”

A lot of times here on the ‘Grok, I take potshots at WMUR for various and sundry reasons – and give them kudos from time to time as well.  Certainly, they decided to “Afflict the Comfortable” when they aired their segments in their news programs about “Martha’s Motel” – the continued use of NH State Senator / Democrat National Committee member Martha Fuller Clark’s home in Portsmouth being used as a fly-by and drive-by for Leftist / OFA (Organizing for Obama / America) political operatives that come to NH  for a couple of weeks or months to work on political races, vote, and then skedaddle.

Once again, WMUR’s Closeup – this week’s edition where Shaheen was the subject of two of the three segments.  I listened and just have to make some comments

• She makes the claim that the Senate has passed more bills than the House.  Actually, the House has passed more bills than the Senate, but I guess since the House is controlled by Republicans, she gets to use another method of math.

• Jeanne Shaheen brings up Extremists the Republicans in the Senate.   It was a constant with all of the talking head programs today – extremists, extremists, extremists.  So Jeanne, as a “public servant”, it seems that you enjoy calling those you serve, the Citizen / Voters that put them into office, Extremists?  Nice to know – we should keep that in mind.

• In line with that, Jeanne brought up that “The Maverick” John McCain used a caustic utterance concerning those that only wish to defend basic Constitutional values (which are orthagonal to the Progressive ones that Shaheen seems to profess, if quietly) “Wacko Birds”.  Let me ask you this, Jeanne – PLEASE take McCain and keep him permanently on your side of the aisle, where he seems to belong?

• She talked about compromise and and that it yields better legislation.  Just have to love what she did with “compromise” as a NH State Senator with her SB711!  How’s it feel to have almost singlehandedly destroying the healthcare marketplace here in NH -destroying it from over two dozen providers to just about 2 and a 1/2 providers.  This is the result of Crony Capitalism in that politicians write the legislation that only protects the strong.  Is this part of your mantra – making sure that the marketplace is tilted to those politically connected or large enough to have the political connections to get the “juice” flowing?

Ladies (you who now belong to the DC Ruling Political Class),

I bet you all are so relieved – that you and your staffers have all been relieved of the burden of sharing in the “shared sacrifice / responsibility” (as a President of oft to say) of Obamacare and joining with the rest of us in being responsible for paying “your fair share”.  Must be nice to be able to not have to be subjected to, once again, yet another law to which the rest of us are subject to and you all are not.   Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Congresswomen Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster, it must fill you with joy to see that, at least for you and your employees, the Progressive Holy Grail of a single payer system has come true.  The unfortunate “fact” is that it isn’t the Government that is the “single-payer” – it is all of us that pay taxes that are paying for you.  And paying for the State workers.  And the County level workers.  And the local level as well.

And finally, paying for ourselves. It’s us – at the bottom of what, more and more, seems like the Pyramid of Power that have that burden. Alone.  Seems to be the mantra lately – Government which is supposed to be our public servants seems to come before those you are supposed to serve.  By the Ruling Class. One would have to think “is this by design” if one was a cynical sort of fellow.

Mathematics, Scientific Hypothesis, the written word, the wheel, fire, electricity, the light bulb, the transistor, the theory of relativity; the Internet is one of those (and there are certainly a lot more) things that can be described as “disruptive technology”.  From those, many industries have been spawned.  AOL (America OnLine) was one such attempt to capitalize on a nascent technology that allowed lots of computer networks to interconnect and to communicate.  And then AOL decided to “outnewspaper” the dying dead wood newspapers by being hyperlocal and hyperquick and pushed Patch.com to be a national entity.  Unfortunately, things have not quite gone as well as Arianna Huffington’s parent company would have liked – between 300-400 of these local sites are being shuttered.

Here in NH, at least from when I looked this afternoon, it is not clear if any sites are going to stay or be closed.  No, didn’t email or call anyone but I found this interesting and it may be an indication of “your” Patch will still be active. Went to the main Patch.com and from the right hand menu, selected New Hampshire and this is what showed up:

Result: Amherst, Bedford, Concord, Exeter, Hampton-North Hampton, Longonderry, Merrimack, Milford, Nashua, Portsmouth, Salem, and Windham.

Yeah, I’m an old fogey, but this story out of California has trouble written all over it.  I look at this akin to the practice of “mainstreaming” of students except this is about sex instead of ability (or, really, what seemingly can be the ping-pong of gender identity today vs tomorrow vs yesterday – a la ABC’s Don Ennis) – everyone has to conform to a lowest common denominator (as it is clear that even the educationalists have to admit that while there may be value for some of the “delayed / handicapped / challenged / lower ability” students (ok, I’m tired of knowing what the PC word du jour is), it does hold back potentially high performing students, especially in districts that can’t afford gifted student tracks).  Or, some twerps (be they male or female) who are just going to be high school kids that want to push the boundaries and make the school administrators look stupid (reformatted, emphasis mine):

The Arcadia Unified School District in Southern California will now allow a female ninth grade student to use the boys’ bathroom after the Department of Justice launched a discrimination investigation based on a complaint.

Of COURSE it is Obama’s DOJ going after this – nothing says “fundamentally transforming” America by teaching our kids that sex means nothing (unless they are encouraging the verb sense of the word – at which case, have a condom or a pill, or even an abortion or a slot in the day care!  Teen moms – that’s the ticked to stimulating the economy!

…“Under the agreement, approved by the district’s school board unanimously last night, the school district will take a number of steps to ensure that the student, whose gender identity is male and who has consistently and uniformly presented as a boy at school and in all other aspects of his life for several years, will be treated like other male students while attending school in the district,” the DOJ announcement stated….

Over at SeacoastOnline (online version of the Portsmouth Herald), ‘Grok friend Jeff Chidester (host of NH Perspectives) has a column that touches on Voter Fraud.  I thought it interesting to repost the relevant parts (emphasis mine):

…My columns on Obamacare and New Hampshire’s domicile voting provision clearly provoked many of you, which was my intent. But it was the negative responses that I found most interesting as they illustrate what I refer to as digressive logic; starting from one point and continually retreating as “your facts” are disproven.

…Voter fraud. In my July 28 article (http://bit.ly/13oj0qd), I pointed out a real issue with New Hampshire’s domicile voting provision. Some commenters claimed I was being a hypocrite, even though I was calling out both major parties, and anyone who would violate our voting laws. Some went so far as to accuse members of the Free State movement of voter fraud, and asked why I didn’t call them out. I didn’t because there is nothing to call them out for. Free Staters are invested in New Hampshire, and even though some may not like Free Staters’ politics or disagree with their methods, they actually do live in New Hampshire. They moved here, bought homes, started businesses, pay taxes and fees, spend money in their communities, register their vehicles in New Hampshire and obtain state driver’s licenses. They are New Hampshire citizens. To compare Free Staters to those who unashamedly circumvent our election laws for their own reasons, while not truly being invested in New Hampshire, is ridiculous.

Maybe voter fraud is not an epidemic, but that is not the point. Winning and losing an election can come down to a handful of votes, which means every vote must be authentic. One ballot cast dishonestly means a vote was stolen from someone else, maybe you. Here is how the neoprogressive argument goes regarding voter fraud:

Cool interactive map for data wonks over at the Washington Examiner – they went thru pretty much every county in the country and mapped out how the County level employees did against those that they serve with respect to incomes.  Of course, California had the biggest gaps between the two with county government employees sometimes making 200% (on average) more than the residents in that county – or more.  NH did pretty well in that, IMHO, government pay levels , +/- a tad, are in line with the earnings of taxpayers that are paying for that Government.

We here at GraniteGrok consider Liberty and Freedom not only our watchwords but our political outlook as well; it is why we do what we do.  We don’t care if our elected leaders have been in office for a year, two years, or 25 years.  In the private sector, you have to prove yourself everyday that you are adding to the company’s profit (or at the very least, not detract from it).  There is no profit measuring stick in Government – but we can measure our elected officials by the similar fashion – do they help to enhance our Liberties & Freedoms (re: do they vote for laws that enhance or restrict our universe of Choice, regardless of the words that spill out of their mouths)?

If a worker does not do the work they are supposed to, if they are a drain, they are fired – NO one should ever believe that they are entitled to a job and a company is not responsible for your welfare (other than to pay your agreed upon compensation – anything else is a bonus).  Similarly for politicians – if you do not defend OUR Liberties & Freedoms, you are worse than a drain on Society and we will fire you – NO politician should ever believe that they are entitled to a Seat and we are not responsible for your welfare (or sense of entitlement to keep said Seat, getting voted back in should be viewed as a bonus).  Daniel Horowitz from RedState (adding on to my two posts from last night) has it right:

Gone are the days when every sitting Republican is the defacto nominee for the duration of his or her life, barring any egregious scandal. Every six years, each Republican will have to stand on his record and vouch for why he is the best person to represent Republicans, especially in a conservative state. If nobody comes along to challenge them and we are stuck with a weak Republican, then so be it. But if and when we find viable challengers, we will not sit back and rubber stamp another six years of rudderless leadership.

Yes, it makes you dependent on someone – or something, right?  Grokster Steve relates that under the Obama Administration, we are becoming a nation of part-timers.  Here is an infographic from The Corner:

Obama owns this.  The Democrats own this.  The New Left (Socialists, Communists) own this.  Everyone that voted for Obama, to be their representative in the White House via our Constitutional Republic, own this.  His policies (the expiration date on Bush’s fault has run out) via your votes.  You own this.

“Determined Weakness” seems to be Obama’s watchword phrase.  “Fundamentally Transform” was his own.  In decades past, Americans were taught, encouraged, and expected to be self-responsible – and independent.  Yet, we are now seeing a high proportion of new college grads moving home; jobless or severely underemployed.  Youth unemployment is 25%.  Real unemployment is estimated at 15% – 20%.  Blacks and Hispanics are at levels well above whites.  50 million households are on food stamps.  Those on Social Security Disability (SSI) are outpacing the new jobs.  How can one be independent when one can’t support oneself?  Family, friends – may be in the same situation.  Churches?  Under attack already and being crowded out by other “social services organizations” mainly supported by Government monies.

Look up Cloward-Piven – a scheme dreamed up by two Marxists academicians that want to totally want erase America as it now is.  Their premise was to overload “the system” and almost did it in New York City by overextending the welfare system in cahoots with other like minded groups getting people to get the City to pay out.  Their plan, once the City went under, was to replace it with a socialist / communist style of governance (and hoping that it would spread around the country). It didn’t work then, but then, they didn’t have control of the White House and like minded Socialist Progressives pushing hard in the US House and US Senate.

…the true feelings of the Establishment towards conservative / TEA Party grassroots?  I met Erick Erickson of Redstate just after GraniteGrok opened its doors – the Sam Adams folks (as they were constituted back then) decided that it would be a great idea to bring together top State Level bloggers who had shown a propensity for free market, constitutional, and individual Liberty & Freedom tendencies for a long weekend to meet each other, yak a lot, and make what turned out to be long-term friendships (at least for a handful of us).  We drove stories out of the blogosphere, owned some search results, move the stories to where the MSM had to pay attention to them, and even got Rush Limbaugh to pick a couple of them up on his show.  Several folks have “gone National”; Erick & RedState are one.  So when he reports this interaction with the NRSC at the RedState Gathering, it seems to be a perfect example and metaphor for us vs the Establishment (reformatted, emphasis mine):

There was, however, one interesting moment with a guy from the National Republican Senatorial Committee worth sharing. Friday afternoon as I was trying to make my way to Governor Jindal’s reception, the guy from the NRSC stopped me and very derisively asked if I was going to support anyone other than challengers to incumbents. He went so far as to claim I must be making money to support challengers against incumbents and let me know RedState would be blamed if the GOP did not take back the majority.
